Eddie Murphy is not a draw. Certainly no more or less than Diesel.

They are both kid movies involving babysitting. They seem to have the same kind of humor. They are both well-marketed, and this one will be released in considerably more theaters.

Ooh, just read my last post here again. Looks like I was wrong. Anywho, on to the next weekend. Let's see if Willis can still open an action movie. Comingsoon doesn't seem to think so. They went with an $8 million opening for Hostage. I suspect it will perform better than that.

1) Robots - $42 million
2) The Pacifier - $18.5 million
3) Hostage - $14 million
4) Be Cool - $13 million
5) Hitch - $7 million
6) Million Dollar Baby - $6 million
7) Diary of a Mad Black Woman - $5.5 million
8) The Passion Recut - $4 million
9) Constantine - $3.5 million
10) Because of Winn Dixie - $2 million

I definately think The Ring 2 will remain at the top spot.
Guess Who looks funny enough so it might do decent business. But are people really clamoring to see Miss Congeniality 2? Noone loves Sandra Bullock more than I do (and William Shatner for that matter) and I actually enjoyed the first one, but even I think it looks bad. Lame, lame trailer. I don't think I can predict how well it will do though. I hope the movie ends up actually being good and it does well but it don't look promising.

Ring 2 will not hold on to the top spot. It is going to drop over 50%. Take into account the fact that it dropped 12% from Friday to Saturday during its opening weekend and that horror flicks always drop 50% or more their second weekend. Guess Who should open strong. If Kutcher can open an R-rated genre flick like Butterfly Effect to what, $17 million, a comedy like Guess Who that co-stars Bernie Mac should do quite well. It will easily beat Ring 2 this weekend.

Yeah , i don't see any way the Ring will hold up , especially since people will flock to something light and fluffy like Guess Who .

I really have no idea how to predict Sin City. It will do well, no doubt, but how well? Will the rating hurt it at all? I'm sure there are plenty of teen boys who want to see it but won't be able to, unless they sneak in. Oh well. That's what makes this fun.

1) Sin City - $28 million
2) Beautyshop - $16 million (three day)
3) Guess Who - $11.5 million
4) Robots - $8 million
5) Miss Congeniality 2 - $7 million
6) Ring 2 - $6.5 million
7) The Pacifier - $5.5 million
8) The Upside of Anger - $5 million
9) Hitch - $3 million
10) Hostage - $2.5 million

I dont have an actual prediction for Sin City but I will say this. In the past, people have been underestimating the urban audience, with You Got Served and Diary of a Mad Black Woman being two prime examples. I feel that this week, people are underestimating the male audience. I think that Sin City will open in the $30-40 million range.

Is there really that much buzz , could be right , Constantine didn't even have half the buzz Sin seems to have and that one hit 30 mil opening weekend , and it was also based on a comic book , and that one blew chunks . I'm not impressed with Sin so far , but anything would be better than Con .

It will be interesting to see what it does , because some people are talking about it like it's the second coming of the talkies , i just don't see anything spectacular about it . But , since i shouldn't be basing this on my feelings , but on what i actually think it will do , i'll up the ante to about 26 mil , would be more , but no doubt the younger crowd will sneak in as someone has already said . That's about the number Dawn 04 did it's opening weekend , and i see the same numbers for Sin City , not exactly the total box office but just the first weekend .

Now Beauty Shop , i'll stick with the same number , this doesn't look at all like a " Cookout " , this should do very well with a healthy spectrum of viewers , and it looks way better than Diary of a Black woman , even if that isn't saying much .

So , Sin City takes the number one spot , just maybe not as big as the hype is suggesting . And you do have to take into account the possibilty some people may watch it and not like .

12 mil Friday gross for Sin City , very impressive , but not surprising . It should easily make it to 30 mil now . It depends on what type of jump it has today . What did Constantine do it's opening weekend , that's the most recent R Rated film to make it to 30 mil on it's opening weekend . The green screens are prob being prepped as we speak , get ready for Sin City 2 : Original Sin .

Beauty Shop is underperforming , maybe those barbershop films just don't work without Ice Tea and The Entertainer , but it should have a nice jump today , PG 13 films usually do . So , it could still make it to around 20 mil for the weekend , maybe .

I'm just going to do a top three again, because the rest won't be all that interesting. It's Sin City vs. Sahara vs. Fever Pitch. Could be a battle for first place, or it might not be close at all.

1) Fever Pitch - $17.5 million
2) Sahara - $16 million
3) Sin City - $15 million

Damn , i was way off on BS , i thought forsure it would do better , but at least i came close to my Sin City prediction . I'm not sure what type of legs it will have , i'm thinking it's going to follow the pattern Con experienced , although it seems to be getting way better word of mouth and reviews , i think it will perform about the same , they are both adaptations of popular comic books and they both have the same rating . I'll have to see what Con did it's second weekend to get a better idea . The other ones , i'm totally clueless , i couldn't take a guess at this point , the new releases that is .

I don't think Amityville Horror will open as well as the TCM remake did. I don't sense the same amount of buzz and anticipation around it, and the original Amityville isn't on the same level as the original TCM in terms of fan base and recognition. But it will still do well and open at number one.

Amityville Horror - $21.5 million

Hmm , i don't see Hitchhiker appealing to anyone outside it's fanbase , for the most part . It looks quirky , silly , weird , and i doubt anyone who hasn't read the books will get most of the humor .

I would say XXX takes the number one spot , it looks like the mindless , mainstream entertainment people like .

XXX - 31 mil

Hitchhiker - 17 mil

Exactly. Vin Diesel's presence alone is most of the difference for the first week.

So you think the box office will recover this weekend? Most "experts" seem to think it will be fairly slow again and won't pick up until Sith comes out. I agree with your assessments of Kicking & Screaming and Unleashed, but Mindhunters has no chance in hell of making that much. It's basically being dumped, even if it is a decent genre flick, and it won't make half that much. And Monster-In-Law could very easily make a lot more than $15 million. It will be insanely popular with women of all ages.

3. Kicking & Screaming- $10.0 million
