Gaddam whatta crazy-ass game the Suns and Grizzlies played tonite.... Steve Nash getting instantly ejected near the end of the 4th, he didn't even have ONE technical foul, and they T'ed him up and tossed him... He must've said somethin reall fucked up, he got right in the official's face....
Anyhow, Memphis deserved to win this one... They were MURDERING the Suns with 3 pointers of their own, and there was a lotta physical play that the ref's just let go as well.... I think the Suns are more of a finesse team, so when they get slammed around and shit, and the officals don't call anything, they'll get their asses beat.... And here I had hopes of Phoenix at least tying the 1998 Chicago teams' win/loss record, too late now! ![]() |

Well, Rudy T. has just resigned, and the Lakers are now without Kobe and without a head coach, right before they head out for nine games on the road out of their next twelve. Anyone feeling pessimistic about their upcoming three weeks?
![]() I did read on espn.com, though, that the Lakers were considering asking Phil Jackson to come back. Apparently Jerry Buss and Mitch Kupchak had a meeting with Kobe to ask him if he'd be ok with it, and Kobe said "go ahead". And apparently, Phil Jackson told the press via email that he'd look at any offer, including from the Lakers. I don't think he's going to accept it, but really, wouldn't it be a little ridiculous, asking the Zen Master to come back? It's like sucking it up, tucking your dick in between your legs and going "listen, man, we neeeed you. We're sorry. We fucked up." And why would Jackson want to get back to L.A. now anyway? There's no way they can play for a title, he knows Kobe probably ain't gonna listen to him most of the time, and his coaching techniques need way more than four months to be implemented. It'd be a lose-lose situation for him -- except if he needs the money. |

Well the 76ers have backed off in the Donyell Marshall trade demands because Rob Babcock is asking for "too much"
From the Toronto Star "At least one team has backed off trade talks to the Raptors because the current asking price for veteran forward Donyell Marshall is too high. According to league sources the Philadelphia 76ers have groun frustrated by the "unreasonable" demands of first year GM Rob Babcock and will look elsewhere for a trading partner" The raptors were apparenty looking for rookie Andre Igoudala in return which the 76ers found ridiculous. What do want the Raptors to take another jobber who plays 2 minutes a game we already got 2 useless players from the Vince Carter trade and you know if that's all the Raptors are offered I'd rather go with Marshall the rest of the year than get some useless player the Raptors won't keep anyways. |

as if they asked for iguodala, they should've asked for dalembert, thomas or jackson.. raps still need another big man pretty badly.. and they should trade jalen rose already because that huge contract really isn't worth it.. I think me or horrorfreak would do a better job than rob babcock, the guy seems in over his head

Trading Jalen Rose isn't easy. He's got a fourteen million dollar contract, and he only plays ten or eleven good games a year. You make the math. Who wants a player like him?
And I think Iguodala wasn't a bad asking price for Marshall, and despite what the 76ers might say, quite reasonable. Marshall is a seasoned vet, hard working, no problem player, who can score 20 or 30 on given nights and take 10 to 12 rebounds a night. On the other hand, Iguodala is a young player, still not perfect, but with decent shooting, athletic capabilities, and promising defensive skills. But he needs two or three years of polishing to be great. I say it's a decent offer. Because the Raps would get a player for the future, but they're also giving up a great role player who can help them right now. If the 76ers feel keeping younger blood is the right way to go, then fine, but calling Babcock's demands "unreasonable" and passing him off as an amateur is bullshit. It's not because it's his first year as a GM that people should treat him like he's stupid. |

obviously rose wouldn't get traded solo, they'd package him with somebody else.. with say, donyell marshall..
and trading carter, an all-star who has been the face of this franchise for the past 7 years, for 2 scrubs and a guy who isn't even playing.. that has stupid written all over it Last edited by chiefxcel; 02-03-2005 at 04:50 PM.. |

Carter had to go, man, whatever the price. He was hurting this team. He had become a lazy ball-hogger, who didn't feel motivated, and who, instead of lifting the team up, dragged it down. You get rid of players like that as quick as you can.
The Raptors do, indeed, need to get rid of Rose. But his contract'll be up soon. And Marshall can go, too -- he's good, but he's old. The Raptors need to rebuild, around Bosh inside, and hopefully a future high draft pick at guard, and take it from there. And with smart management, in three or four years they can be where the Bulls are today, which isn't bad at all. |

Raptors stats: 16 points on 41% shooting, 3.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.2 steals Nets stats: 24 points on 46% shooting, 5.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.3 steals The man's basically doing his best season since 2001 since he got to Jersey. And that pains me -- because that proves he was really not giving his best in Toronto lately, and he just can't do that. Complaining is one thing. Asking to be traded is another. Abandoning your team and teammates by not going out there and giving it your whole is the lowest thing a sports player can do. And I hate and despise the dude for it. He's a prick. |

But when you decide not to give your all and fuck the franchise and the fans who pay big fucking money for tickets(both home and the road well not much at home since Vince played like 3 home games since the Raptors played like 25 of their first 30+ games on the road which is BULLSHIT) to go to the games and when you decide your going to not give it your all so you can be traded which is why the Raptors got shit in return for him, well that and the fact they could have fucking had the Portland deal which is besides the draft picks that Portland wasn't giving up is still 10X better than so far what we got in the deal with New Jersey I guess that will depend what the 2 draft picks end up being one of them this year and the other one next year. I'll be honest: I voted Grant Hill and Jermaine O'Neal every time I voted. Because they're the two people I wanted to see starting that game. Jamison and Pierce I know are good players, but they don't strike me as so much better than Carter. Having O'Neal on the bench, though, is a shame. That's what I don't like about the All-Star voting system so much. Sure, the fans should get to vote, because it's a game for the fans to see who they want to see -- but Carter's been a starter at the ASG for most of the years he's been in the NBA when he simply did not deserve it, and others who deserved it way more lost their chances because of that, and that pisses me off. |

carter's no all-star... all-stars are supposed to be great players who bring their game every night and never take a minute off.. carter really has no business being in this game.. sure his numbers for the nets are very good, but his numbers in toronto say it all... i hate the all-star systems in most leagues because the fans have too much of a say, so it's more of a popularity contest... coaches should do all of the voting because they'd vote for the best players, not the players they like the most.. but of course, the fans voting for the starters is MUCH better than them voting for the entire rosters..

I mean, I think those are the players who deserve to be there on that weekend. No questions asked, I agree with you. But it's called the All-Stars, not the All-MVPs -- because it's a game for the STARS the fans want to see all together on a court for once, all in the same time. It's a crowd-pleasing weekend, that's the whole point. Sometimes, like in this case, it's a shame. But hey...the fans vote. It's democratic, I guess. |

No one famous wants to do the Dunk Contest.
Because it's a lose-lose situation for now. There's very little money to win (relatively speaking) -- and imagine what it does to, say, Bron Bron's reputation if he gets beat by a Fred Jones. People will keep dissing him.I say they should invite mostly players of the same caliber -- if you invite Bron Bron, make sure there's Kobe, there's TMac, there's Vince, there's Amare, or at least one or two of those. Pump it up like it used to be when Michael Jordan went up against Dominique Wilkins, where even the loser ('Nique) came out looking great, because he lost against someone who was just even greater, and not a nobody. And then raise the stakes, raise the prize money. I say do that -- and all the stars will accept. Because there's nothing to lose. You win, great, you win. You lose, then, yeah, but you lost against LeBron James or Kobe Bryant -- anyone would've. Y'know? |

agreed, if they're going to have guys like lebron there they should have other major stars there as well.. if i were in control of the dunk contest, i'd make the prize much bigger and invite the following players:
Vince Carter LeBron James Kobe Bryant Jason Richardson Amare Stoudemire Tracy McGrady Steve Francis Dwyane Wade how amazing would that be? as for the 3 pt comp, I'd invite: Kyle Korver Joe Johnson Cuttino Mobley Vladimir Radmanovich Peja Stojakovic Damon Jones Rashard Lewis Jason Terry |

Well, here's the shootout competitors:
Ray Allen, Seattle Joe Johnson, Phoenix Kyle Korver, Philadelphia Voshon Lenard, Denver Vladimir Radmanovic, Seattle Quentin Richardson, Phoenix My two picks are Voshon Lenard and Ray Allen. Because they both won once already, they both have experience in the contest, and they're both the best series shooters of the lot in my opinion. And why did I put Lenard first? Because he won last year, and since the contest was created in 1986, 11 different players won it, and out of those eleven players, 5 repeated their feat by winning the next year (special mention to Larry Bird and Craig Hodges, who each won three times in a row in the late 80s and early 90s). So Lenard it is for me. As for who I'd pick as subs for the All-Star teams... EAST: Dwayne Wade, Gilbert Arenas, Paul Pierce, Antawn Jamison, Ben Wallace, Emeka Okafor, and Kirk Hinrich(I know, I know...but you gotta reward the Bulls for the season they're playing so far, to me, and he's been their leader at the point with about 15 points and 7 assists a game) WEST: Steve Nash, Ray Allen, Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudemire, Manu Ginobili, Mike Bibby (and if Kobe doesn't play the game, add Tony Parker to that list) Last edited by James Logan; 02-07-2005 at 04:28 PM.. |

six great 3 point shooters right there, I'm gonna predict that korver will win it.. not only does he look like ashton kutcher, but he's one of the best catch and shoot players I've ever seen, and he's only a sophomore!
dunk competition participants will probably be revealed tomorrow or wednesday and the reserves will be revealed tomorrow my reserves would be: east - ben wallace, dwyane wade, paul pierce, jermaine o'neal, gilbert arenas, steve francis, antawn jamison west - steve nash, shawn marion, amare stoudemire, ray allen, brad miller, elton brand, chris webber |

I've gotta go wtih QRich for the winner of the 3-point shoot-out... The man's a great shooter, and I think he'll pull it out....

Also in items that make me want to puke Vince Carter had 43 points last night Vince going out and putting out performances like this make me want to throw up I just couldn't watch the damn game anymore. My East Reserves: Dwayne Wade, Gilbert Arenas, Antwain Jamison, Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace, Steve Francis, Jermaine O'Neal. My West Reserves: Steve Nash, Ray Allen, Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudamire, Shawn Marion, Manu Ginobli, Chris Webber(Mike Bibby if Bryant can't play) |

So they picked Zydrunas Ilgauskas over Emeka Okafor as an All-Star reserve. I'm a Cavs fan -- but this is just plain wrong. Okafor is so much better than Ilgauskas, he's a better defender, and despite being a rookie, is already a franchise player and got the Bobcats to an unexpected 10 wins even before Valentine's Day.
I say boo to the NBA coaches who voted for Z and not for Meka. |

I don't think they could've picked Okafor as an all-star reserve, simply because of the fact that he IS a rookie.... I think everyone wanted LeBron on last years team, but I don't think Rookies are eligible to be on the all-star team, are they? I don't believe any rookies are a part of this years All-star game....
Also did ya'll see that fuckin badass block by Stoudemire to Miller to win the game in the Suns vs. Kings matchup last night? It was pretty fuckin cool... You've heard of game winning shots, but it was nice to see a game winning block for a change! Also the Kings were fuckin LIVID after the game, with Miller screaming at the officials and throwin his headband/wristbands into the crowd, and Webber drop kicking the basketball into the stands....Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Chris Webber, and felt he got the all-star snub, as did Mike Bibby... But I just started laughing at how pissed the Kings were, cuz they KNEW it was a fuckin block, but argued goal-tending anyhow ![]() Oh and STEVE NASH IS THE MAN!!! ![]() |

Well finally this situation is over as Karl Malone will apparently announce his retirement on Sunday http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html
And also with the latest with all the crap that's going on with the Raptors Alonzo Mourning has gotten a buyout from the Raptors http://www.tsn.ca/nba/news_story.asp?id=114574 And Eric Williams want to be traded because of his playing time so in the Vince Carter trade we got Aaron Williams who has played pretty much nothing since he got here, Eric Williams who isn't playing much now anyways and Alonzo Mourning who couldn't play here and never did anyways. Add to that Rafer Alston's situation this is one fucked up situation right now. So what cap relief did we get from this Alonzo Mourning buyout? $3 or 4 million. WOW!!!!!! That will give us what a backup player. ![]() |

Yeah, that trade isn't looking like such a good move for the Raptors, in hindsight. At least not for this season -- perhaps on a longer stretch, what with the cap room free and all.
I'm interested to see how Mourning signing with the Heat might work out. It should be what happens, and the Heat should use him as a backup to Shaq, so I want to see if he can hold his ground ten, fifteen minutes a game. I also want to see if Van Gundy will dare use him as a power with Shaq inside when they're playing strong inside teams for short periods of time -- because that's gotta be an intimidating sight. You're slashing through the lane, ball in hands, you go to the basket, and the only thing between you and the slam dunk is... ...Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning. Fuck, man. ![]() |

looks like sam mitchell's apparent fight with rafer alston this week wasn't his first... apparently mitchell and vince carter got into a physical altercation just before he was traded.. carter reportedly said he "couldn't take Sam's challenges any more, so I picked him up and threw him on the massage table." Michelle Carter, Vince's mom, also reportedly said, "if anyone says it didn't happen, they're lying."
as for the alston fight, mitchell apparently called him on and later on alston was escorted out of the building by 6 security guards and was seen crying.. what a mess.. of course, this is the toronto media reporting all of this, and they tend to twist things that are partially true and make them out to be something else Last edited by chiefxcel; 02-11-2005 at 10:24 PM.. |

Rafer Alston and Vince Carter are arrogant, disrespectful, buttfuckers.
If I were a Toronto GM, I'd trade Alston sooner or later if I could get something decent for him. The only reason the man is in the league is because of the Skip to My Lou name and the And 1 hype, and I think we all see that doesn't amout to squat in the NBA. Sure, he can play some ball, but do you really want a prima donna cock like him on a roster when you're trying to rebuild a franchise? I say no. I say trade his ass. |

To be honest, I always thought AI would hit 60 one day. After all, he does take 20 to 35 shots sometimes, so when like yesterday, he can almost shoot 50%, and the opposing team gives him 25 trips to the charity stripe...It had to happen sooner or later.
But I'm glad it happened this year. Because people don't talk about AI so much, what with all the LBJ and Wade and Shaq and Kobe and Phoenix Suns and Seattle Supersonics talk, but I think Iverson's making his best season ever. And it's nice to have 60 to top it off. |

60 points for Iverson and he is on the worst Philly team he has ever been on. AI has certainly been flying below the radar screen the last few years after being "The Man" for a while...he is just stuck in the worst division in the game and on a team that really isnt that good.
On a simular note, looks like the Celts are putting a run together, whats the over under on this divisonal leader being 10 games over .500 when its all said and done? Look out for them Celts!! ![]() ![]() |
