Most Haunting Songs

Since there's a thread on Ethereal/Heavenly songs (which I love) I thought I'd make a thread more specifically for the more "haunting" songs, you know, those songs that just give you this sad (but not just sad) sort of vibe...there might be some overlap (which is obvious from my list here and in the other thread) but I'd very much like some recommendations to check out and there were some songs that that didn't quite cover (like Nine Inch Nails - Hurt)

The ones I can think of to start -

Sufjan Stevens - John Wayne Gacy Jr
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt
Michael Andrews - Donnie Darko score
Gary Jules - Mad World (Tears for Fears cover)
Peer Raben - Dark Chariot
Bush - Letting the Cables Slep
Air - The Virgin Suicides score
Antony & the Johnsons - Hope There's Someone
The Beatles - A Day in the Life
David Gray - The Other Side
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism
Elliott Smith - Needle in the Hay
Emiliana Torrini - Gollum's Song (LotR: TTT)
Bjork & Thom Yorke - I've Seen it All (Dancer in the Dark)
Gustavo Santaolalla - The Motorcycle Diaries score
Iron & Wine - The Sea & the Rhythm
Iron & Wine - Lion's Mane
Max Avery Lichtenstein - Tarnation score (parts)
James Horner - A Beautiful Mind score
Danny Elfman - Sleepy Hollow score
Sigur Ros - Svefn-G-Englar
John Williams - A.I. score
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Massive Attack - Danny the Dog score
The Notwist - Consequence
Oasis - Gas Panic!
The Smashing Pumpkins - Blank Page
Stars - Going, Going, Gone
Ryan Adams - Wonderwall (Oasis Cover)

That's what I could think of right now...
Like I said, quite a bit of overlap but if anyone can think of any others I'd appreciate it...I'm always on the lookout for these types of songs.

The Doors - The End
John Coltrane - Alabama
Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit
Charles Mingus - Don't Let It Happen Here
Pink Floyd - The Wall (the whole album)
Jefferson Airplane - Wooden Ships (I prefer their version to CSNY's)\
Johnny Cash - Hurt (better, and more haunting, than NIN's, IMO)
Joy Division - a ton of songs, but Atmosphere and I Remember Nothing in particular
Most of Robert Johnson's output, as well as an unlistable amount of other acoustic blues

There's plenty more, I'll add later.

echoes-pink floyd

there's about 10 minutes of eerie and coll music on the 24 minute song
but what's more haunting than songs are collections are sounds.

A lot of songs by Cat Power can be very haunting. Her voice paired with a slow solo guitar or piano can send chills up your spine sometimes.

Soooo many songs to check out so far when I get back to res (and my own computer) I'll have to try some of these songs out. Though my roommate will probably get annoyed with me playing depressing song after depressing song (though maybe it'll appeal to him, who knows, he's an emo kid but it's probably not angry enough for him)

Wrong album for the last two. And YES, Pyramid Song and How To Disappear Completely are, in fact, the correct answers to this thread.
