Looks like the news will drop by the end of the week that Rob will be back directing another Halloween.
And I say good. While his 'remake' left something to be desired I do like that movie. I also enjoyed the backstory much more than the 2nd half of the film. I am not one to say that it 'ruined' the original because, I can still watch that movie any time I want. Unless he was able to destory every copy of Carpenters Classic then there is nothing he can ruin for me. Anyways...my reason for being excited is because of his past. House of 1000 Corpses was hyped, just like Halloween, and didnt hit as hard as expected. He came back with one of the best horroh films made in recent memory with Rejects. Same could apply here. Who really knows? |

He had his chance... I had all the hope in the world for the Halloween Remake since Devils Rejects was so fantabulous but he totally spoiled the ethos behind myers...
The Nature over Nurture arguement... was rushed over in the original Halloween because we got right to the Myers massacre... BUT we saw a glimpse of the concerned parents from a normal suburban american home coming home to find what their 'little boy' had done... Zombie bastardised that by introducing a family that was so disfunctional I was expecting the dad to attempt inbreeding with the boy... only to be severely disappointed. I had all renewed faith in the series when I heard the 'INSIDE' guys were on the case after being 'removed' from the Hellraiser remake due to apparently being too extreme... but now... I think the series is dead for me it Ended with Homecoming and yes I loved all the corny sequels ![]() |

Either way I don't really care. I won't end up seeing it anyway. Couldn't stand the first one. |

Well well well, this is a genuine shock.
Zombie says he will never direct a remake-hey what's this, Zombie's remaking Halloween! Wth!!? Zombie says he won't make a sequel to said remake-there he goes again, proving himself false once more! Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and all that jazz, but when you promise that you won't do something, don't do it!! Halloween remade sucked mostly anyways, but him directing a sequel? I'd hope not. Sorry Rob, ![]() |

This will be the first Halloween I won't watch. Zombie ruined the first one. Now they're gonna let him do it again. I can give a crap what he does to it this time because I won't be there--I'm tired of his BS torture/naked girls crawling across the floor chased by 7 foot tall giant killer movies over and over again.

If this movie bombs, the series is done, or going direct to video. The response from the remake was terrible, except for the Rob Zombie fans, but it is not hard to please them. I guess we should expect the same as we got from the remake, lots of Fucks, Skullfuck, boring characters... I could go on and on.
Why try something new and original? Why should I watch a Halloween 2 when I could just grab my original Halloween 2 dvd, which will be more than likey better? |

Sounds good to me. I wonder if he's just doing this to get T-Rex made. Either way, I can't wait to see both.

Probably is, cause I remember an interview a while back where he didn't seem interested at all in doing a sequel.

It definitely sounds like the kind of deal Dimension would throw at him. "Yeah, we'll fund that film. But first you gotta do this for us!"

I've had the sad luck of only seeing from H20 on in theaters...and haven't enjoyed any of them thus far.
I too, may not even go to theaters for this.... |

I say skip it, this just doesn't peak any interest at all for me. The remake pretty much sucked, but if the material were given to the right scribe/director the sequel would have a chance, as of now, I have absolutely no hopes for this film.

While I'd prefer to see him go onto something different than a sequel to his Halloween (even though I loved what he did), if that is the case then I can't say it's a bad thing since I really want to see T-Rex happen. With Zombie on board I'll check this out anyway.

I'm not too happy about the directors of Inside leaving the project. Watching that movie makes me see what an amazing job they could have done with Michael Myers.

I've said it before, cut the dumb hillbilly shit out, stick to what worked (most of the kills), and don't have an ending that's a complete utter bore and mess.
I'm gonna see, if only because i love the franchise. |

esI wouldn't be suprised if the people who were going to do it from the Inside left because Dimension wanted to keep it a hard R looking film with the white trash. Then Dimension went to Rob and gave him a huge cash load to come back as they didn't have anyone else lined up.

I want to see how much this movie will make. Many people were curious as to what Zombie would do, and now they know, will those same people go back and see the sequel?

Shoe I think it will make a lot less. Probably $15 million below what his remake did.

I'd be interested to see where Zombie can take it, however disappointed in the man. September last year he confirmed he was signed up for a couple more films with Dimension but wouldn't direct another Halloween sequel or any more remakes.

I am predicting around $20-$30 million this time. I don't see this one coming anywhere close to the $58 million the remake made. This could very well be the last Halloween movie we see in theaters if the movie does not do well. We could say that for the previous ones, but Akkad wouldn't allow it to go direct to video, but sadly, he is not here now.

I went with 3 friends to see it at the theater. I know none of us would see the sequel in the theater. It'll make half of what the remake made. It'll do good on the DVD market though. If Danielle Harris comes back I'd have a slight intereset in seeing it. Other than that, I could care less about another part 2. I knew Michael would be back. After being shot. Off screen. |

I can't wait for this to do incredibly well financially just so all the naysayers can eat their words. It shall be a glorious day.

I don't think anyone isn't saying that it will do very well financially but usually sequels to Halloween movies that had mixed reviews never make what it follows. Look at the difference between H1 and H2's release.

H-4 made alot of money. H5 not so much and H6 made pretty much no money. Then H20 came out and made alot of money. Probably due to JLC. Then the Busta Ryhmes movie came out and (thankfully) tanked. So my money is on ZH2 not doing so well boxoffice wise.

None of those films had Zombie's name on it. I think people underestimate how many fans Zombie actually has.

Zombie may have had a lot of fans but the original Halloween was the most well received movie and had a huge drop off when the second one came around. Zombies fanbase can't make or break a film just like the Halloween fanbase can't make or break a film. Most of Zombies other movies haven't done that well until they hit DVD.

I think Rob Zombie (film wise) has an equal amount of fans and non-fans. Music wise he has a pretty big following. But no all the people that buy his CDs would go to a theater and see his films.
I see the young Michael and Sherri Moon might be popping up in H2. I really hope Michael doesnt have flashbacks to his childhood. That'd be kinda lame. |

I thought the Halloween remake did something that should have never been done, it explained why Michael Myers is so evil. Although I like Zombie's look for Myers and his choice for Loomis, I thought the film was utter garbage.

Rob Zombie's box office take:
House of 1,000 Corpses - $12,634,962 The Devil Rejects - $17,044,981 Halloween - $58,269,151 All improvements after each movie. Halloween did well for many reasons: Halloween fans (they will see anything that is related to the series, including a remake), Rob Zombie fans (same as Halloween fans), and then curious people who are curious where Rob would take the series. The Halloween fans represent a very small number of the actual gross of the movies. Same for Rob Zombie's fans. I would estimate that they make their series/director around $5-$8 million to their box office take. Which means the general audience adds the majority of the take. After discussions with people after seeing the remake, many people were disgusted by the movie. Some said they expected something scary and dark. A few people walked out. I was surprised by the take the remake did, but after thinking about it, it does make sense. As I mentioned, you have about $16-$20 million from the fans, and the rest is of curiosity of the general audiences to see where Rob would take the direction of the series. A lot of the Halloween fans were disgusted by the movie, and I know I won't be spending my money on the sequel, and I am sure many others won't either. H20 did $55,041,738, then the sequel, H:R did $30,259,652. Around $25 million less. H20 was very popular with the general audiences, brought many new fans to the series, and I would say the majority of Halloween fans liked it. Then it lost $25 million on the sequel, which was hammered by critics, and mostly despised by fans and audiences. Will the remake sequel make a profit? Probably, but not like the remake did. Rob could surprise many people, and make a great movie. This is now his movie, and he can take the movie really anywhere he wants. But, they plan to shoot the movie in March. That means he needs to get a script written, scouting down for filming, auditions for the movie, get a crew together, ect... If we have learned anything from the Saw series, you should take your time, and try to get the right script together. The last two or three could have used a few more rewrites. I guess we will know soon what we will be getting. |
