NIGHTMARE the new movie

Hey horror fans, my name is Dylan Bank, and I'm the director of the new movie "Nightmare" that IFC just put out on On Demand. John Fallon is a cool guy and gave us a good review when we were playing in film fests, here it is:
http://www.joblo.com/arrow/reviews.php?id=1056

This is a bat-shit crazy movie that I made for people who are sick of the same plots with the same endings, so hopefully you guys will get a kick out of it. Plus it has tons of nudity. Check out the trailer:

I'm not trying to spam you guys, I'd really like to talk directly with the true horror fans that I made this movie for, and I'll be back to respond to any comments, so feel free to be brutally honest (as if you didn't already).

I'm just a movie fan who got his hands on a camera, I had no interference in making this nuts movie, so I hope you give it a chance.

Ha! Glad to see that somebody at least cares about fans of the Genre, with all these cash-ins and remakes lately.

Thanks, I tried to make the movie I've been waiting for my whole life. For better or worse, that's "Nightmare".

Hi there. I read Arrow's review, and since I find him a good reviewer with good taste, I ordered it. I wanted to watch the movie before I posted to this thread. Just finished a little bit ago and took some time to let it sink in. Trust me, the film needs/deserves it. I've got to ask one question. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU MAN?!?!?!?!?!

I mean that as affectionately as possible.

Your movie is SERIOUSLY fucked up(in a good way). I love good mindfuck movies and this one definitely falls in this category. Anyone that likes flicks like Donnie Darko, Lost Highway, or A Clockwork Orange, you are in for a real treat.

This was definitely worth the 7 bucks for the flick(I love Comcast). You definitely have an interesting style behind the camera. Definitely recommend it.

And I also appreciate a filmmaker with the balls to get down and dirty with the fans. Shows a lot of class and respect.

Yeah, it did the same for me. Definitely ended up worth the 7 bucks, like I said. One seriously fucked up movie.

Kick ass, that's exactly the response I'm looking for!

I was working at a video store before I moved to NYC to write "Nightmare", had unlimited access to movies, and was beginning to hate every movie. I couldn't figure out if I was just becoming a total movie whiner or whether movies were really just sucking up a storm. Then Donnie Darko came out, and I remembered what it was like to be blown the hell away by a film again. I'm not saying my movie was quite that experience for you guys, but I'm glad you mentioned them in the same sentence, and didn't ask for your 7 bucks back.

Dude, comparing it to Donnie Darko is about the best compliment I can give to a mindfuck movie. Even now I am still wondering if I truly understand it all. Which is a good thing. The more I think about a movie like this, the more open ended the movie seems. And that is something I love about these kinds of movies. They are very cerebral.

The world needs more movies like this.

I'm not even sure how I would feel about the ending the first time I saw it if I didn't make it. It's designed to both make you think, to feel totally betrayed as an audience member, and cast the whole movie in a very different light than one would assume on a first viewing. My favorite director is Kubrick, and one of the actors in "Nightmare" (The creepy guy in the beginning named Leon) actually was at the world premiere of "The Shining" and saw the original ending before Kubrick cut it. There was an extra scene after they escape the maze where Shelly Duval is in the Hospital talking to the police. The police are telling her that they didn't find Jack anywhere, and she's insisting that he's there somewhere. That's when they go to the shot where the camera goes through the hotel and it lands on the old picture with Jack in it.
When he first told me that, I loved it and wanted to see it, but upon rethinking it, that answers too many questions and ties the movie into a neat little bow, whereas the ending as it stands is an enigma, and makes it run through my head over and over.
My movie does have something that definitley happens in the end, it's not an ending that doesn't answer the movie or leave you hanging, but it's not the ending that most people are expecting (though one person impressed the hell out of me by predicting it). Like I said, I don't know how I'd feel about it after watching it the first time, because it's meant to change everything you saw, and drive you to see it again with new eyes - and I know how I'd feel about it the second time I watched it.

Sounds crazy! Kinda like a David Lynch horror film or something. I'll have to give this a look when I get the chance.

Just put it in my netflix q at #3, so I should see it by next week. I'll be back to let you know what I think.

Also, I found a korean horror flick with the same title when searching for it. I loved Oldboy, so I added that to the q to.

You know, I never watched the Korean "Nightmare". Maybe some part of me is scared it'll be better than my NIGHTMARE, but I should buck up and finally fucking watch it (I don't think the Korean name is "Nightmare", it's just a redone title for America).

Let me know what you think when you get the chance to watch the real NIGHTMARE!
