I think Bale's a tad overrated and has dropped off a bit in recent years, but I think he's utterly fantastic in HARSH TIMES.

Which is not a fantastic film (utterly or otherwise), but alas.

Voted for American Psycho but 3:10 To Yuma and Batman Begins are high on the list as well. Same with The Prestige and The Machinist.

AMERICAN PSYCHO.

That's the one that put him on the map for me. He hasn't done anything remotely that good since. Never saw Harsh Times, he's pretty solid in The Machinist and Rescue Dawn, otherwise mediocre turn after mediocre turn. He's straight-up bad in the Batman movies.

I haven't seen I'm Not There, The New World or Mary... I wouldn't vote for Batman Begins or The Dark Knight. So I basically have 8 that I can't decide on.

I voted the Machinist, because his acting was amazing, as was his physical transformation. Its the most I have ever seen borught to the table for a role.

I voted Machinist as well just because the guy about starved himself to death. Also he played a pretty decent nutcase as well. His other roles are all very well done but this one sticks out the most to me.

The best film he ever starred in was The Dark Knight, but the best performance he's ever given was between The Machinist and American Psycho, but I voted for Machinist because of the physical transformation he decided to take on.

Bale is definitely one of my favorite actors so this was a tough one for me. I ended up picking American Psycho. One of my favorite performances of all time.

Best movie overall was probably Dark Knight, best physical transformation definitely was in The Machinist, best emasculating rant on the set of Terminator: Salvation, but best PERFORMANCE...

As much as I love his performance in Batman Begins specifically the scene where he looks like he is about to explode when Joseph Cill is adressing the court, you have to go with Patrick Batemen.

His best performance is definitely as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. Closely followed by Rescue Dawn, both performances should have been Oscar nominated.

He's also really good in 3:10 to Yuma I think, one of the best 'simple good guy' performances there is with a great monologue towards the end.

4th is Batman Begins and 5th is The Machinist.

Patrick Bateman is a fucking legend! American Psycho is what made me fall in love (Completely hetero love of course) with The Bale.

His best performance was on that set tape. He's pretty hammy. He was perfect in American Psycho because it was satiric. I like him in Batman because it's Batman, it's a great production, and he makes a good looking Bruce Wayne. I'll give him big time method acting points for The Machinist. I don't dislike him in anyway, because he seems to choose really good projects to give pretty similar performances. He just has no personality to me, and comes off like he plays every character as if he were playing a stoner on qualudes, except the writing is so good that you don't notice. If you put him in Half Baked, he could have used the exact same acting methods he uses in most of his movies, and totally have played Harland William's character and it would have worked.
