The Green Room: Official Smokers Lounge
"Where the clock always reads 4:20...."
![]() *wades through cloud of smoke* Yo! Welcome, smokers and non smokers alike. As an avid and frequent weed/pot/'erb/bud/ganja/reefer/giggle grass/mary jane smoker, I decided to take the opportunity to create this thread as a means of reaching out to all my fellow pothedists (pot enthusiasts) and to provide a safe place for us all to enjoy and discuss our mutual love for this wonderful plant. So feel free share stories, talk about preferences, compare experiences, toss around some ideas for legalization/regulation, and help destroy the negative connotations surrounding it for people who are simply unfamilar with marijuana and help to learn why it's really amazing. (WARNING: If you have a negative opinion on this subject, that's fine, but please don't come here to preach to us because A. I am deeming this place an official "Bummer Free Zone," and B. We'll all be too high and lazy to actually respond to you . But seriously, don't be buzzkiller). So where da stoners at? ![]() ![]() NOTE: Also, here is a great thread to discuss your favorite films to watch while high. There's also a fairly lengthy discussion/debate over the subject as well: http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123221 ![]() Last edited by Smiert Spionam; 11-04-2009 at 04:20 PM.. |

I used to be big into it in high school. But nowadays I just never have the opportunity to. I'm sure I'll pick it up again when I'm home from college. I was always the smoker who you wouldn't ever expect so thankfully I was never really looked down or judged by everyone for it. I always feel like people are far too against it just because of what society says. Seems like they should try it for themselves before judging so harshly.

I'm the opposite of zombievictim. I never smoked in high school but everyone assumed I was a stoner.
Then one day, in my adult life, it occurred to me that my mom smoked all the time, so my jean jacket always smelled like weed, and my sense of humor was developed by stoners. Of course I was tripped out on peyote when I realized this. |

I enjoy the chiba every now and again. I don't do it too often, but I appreciate it when it feels right like yesterday when I went to a screening of Big Trouble in Little China and They Live.
Aside from that, I'm not the stoner I once was but I prefer it this way. I'll always have a soft spot for pot since it never gives me a hangover or makes me not want to sleep or eat. |

I've smoked a regular cigarette once for a dress rehearsal for a play in university. I was never told how to smoke it, even though I asked a few smokers in the class, but all they said was to just let it in and bump it out.
Well, I tried that and got a whole lungful of the shit, my aveoli I estimated must have shrunk a few millimeters. That night, I vomited everything I had in my stomach that day up. The next day when I told my director, she hesitated and said "Let's have your character drink coffee." ![]() As for the weed in question, never tried it, but I'm not against it's medicinal qualities if used in correct portions. |

Yeah, it kind of pisses me off that they have health warnings on packs of cigarettes, but not directions on how to use them. That's messed up. Imagine if everything was like that and you buy a new TV and there were no instructions, just on the side of the box, "Warning: smoking TVs have been shown to cause health problems in laboratory animals."

I wish I could smoke more often, but aside from the occasional party where people don't mind sharing I just can't find someone to buy the damn stuff from.

I was a very heavy smoker for about 5 years. Somehow the kids I knew in high school turned into huge dealers, so they would always let me smoke with them for free. I would say there was a solid year where I would smoke close to a quarter a day, just cause there was so many of us and we would always smoke.
2 years ago, me and my roomate made brownies. After we made the oil, we strained it through a coffee filter and threw it away. Well we went to the store to get food, and when we came back our other roomates dog ate everything out of the filter and was completely fucked up. It couldn't get up one step, wasn't walking right, could hardly stand. The kid took the dog to the vet, and the vet told him his dog had epilepsy and suffered a major seizure. We've never said a word about it to him. I've only smoked 2-3 times in the last year. I just suddenly stopped. But it will always have a special place in my heart. |

Right here, my friend!
I've been into it since high school, but only at parties and here and there. Over the past few years, my love of the stuff grew. I began to appreciate it as more then just something you did to get really fucked at a party. I've learned to sort of channel it to make myself more productive (WHO WOULDA THUNK), and it really helps get the creative juices flowing. Of course, I don't rely on it, but have done some of my best work after tokin' (and yes, I still thought so after the fact )I can respect people that aren't into it. Honestly, it does affect some people negatively. My buddy can't handle it, and always gets extremely paranoid and out-of-sorts. What's everyone's favourite movie to watch stoned? Mine's 2001. Nothing like it. |

I was having this discussion with my college roommates and friends just last Saturday (at a Halloween party). I'm apparently the only one out of about fifteen people I talked too that has not a) smoked a cigarette or b) toked up the hash.
Even my girlfriend has visited the weed. |

That's a real big problem I have with it. Whenever I walk near the vicinity of someone who is smoking, I catch that scent on my clothes and it seems to linger there all day long.
No offense to anyone who smokes, I love all my fellow Schmoes. Just sayin. |

What exactly isn't for you? Obviously, it's not the experience or the effects, since you haven't tried it and don't know what those would be for you. I never tried it until this summer. I've done it 9 times, and I want to marry it. It's a real shame that such a wonderful substance has such a stigma attached to it. Fear-mongering has subverted it into a wicked thing of sorts, though I believe it to be a very beneficial thing to do. I know it can affect some people in negative ways, but it really did wonders (in a good way) for me. This is going to sound like a huge stoner statement, but it really opened my mind, and allowed me to process things in a manner I had never done before. The stoner image is a common stereotype propagated to deter people from usage, but for me, I feel as though it has enhanced my intellectual ability, rather than lessened it. I guess if I just got fried everyday it could be a bit debilitating, but if utilized properly, it's a really wonderful thing. Last edited by RicochetShaw; 11-04-2009 at 11:26 AM.. |

Yes there truly is a time and place for everything and that place is college, although I started smoking weed my senior year of high school, but went all out during my college years, not so much anymore.

I worked at a country club about 5 years ago, I was shocked at how many of the members smoked. Once my boss found out I smoked, I sold him some, he then told the members about me and I sold to quite a bit of them. I have to say it was sort of strange selling to millionaires in their 40-60s. Shaw, you can't be criticizing Adam for not wanting anything to do with weed when he hasn't experienced it. I realize you're just asking a question. I also realize that we're a liberal bunch here, but not everyone wants to smell like shit. What's so hard to fathom about an anti-smoking stance, whether it's pot or nicotine? I'd hate to see this thread turn into a high school hallway where Kid A has to defend him/herself to Kids X, Y and Z.

I'm not criticizing anyone. As you said, I'm just asking a question. Only my first line was directed at him. The rest of my post was talking about my own experiences and how I abhor the stigma associated with it... I didn't mean to apply Adam was partially responsible for that for being a non-smoker or anything like that. He said himself that he's not critical. Maybe I should have made two separate posts to make that more clear. I apologize if I came off like I was giving a didactic lecture about how I think "weed is good." I certainly didn't mean that.
Looking at it again, I realize how the word "exactly", when used in an inquisitive tone, can come off as jerkish. Again, this wasn't intended, and we all know how things can be misinterpreted over text. Adam is a righteous dude and he's always been one of my fav schmoes. I really just want to know the specifics of his stance... out of pure curiosity, not for purposes of rhetoric or to berate. I abstained until I was 22, so I can certainly understand some one else doing the same. I'm just curious about his stance in particular, is all. Specifically, I want to know what the "it" refers to, when he says "it's not for me." It's not how it affects him obviously. Perhaps smoking in general isn't for him (I don't smoke anything else, myself)? Or maybe it's the smell like you conjecture? Or anything else at all.... I'm just wondering is all. I know I'm usually a more combative schmoe, but not here. Wow, this post was loner than it needed to be. |

I do get your point that I can't really criticize it unless I've tried it, but I just don't feel the need to try it to begin with. I don't drink either, but I hear stories from friends and co-workers about all the shit they get into when they head out to the bars; I just don't wanna chance it.
As I said before, I'm not critical of people who do smoke; if you dig it, then that's awesome. Go for it. I just don't feel the need to try it; I have little cash to spare anyways, so supporting a weed habit is out of the question from a financial standpoint. ![]() |

Let's talk about when people look down on others for smoking. Here at school, it seems as though most of the people around me don't smoke. Then I try to explain it to them as to why it's not all bad and they just dismiss it like it's some terrible thing. It's safer than alcohol! You can't OD on it. Sure, you can smell like it (which is a terrible excuse in the first place since I know it's VERY easy to get rid of). I just don't get why people look down on it so much when they haven't ever even tried it. I mean sure, I guess a meth head could say the same to me. The main difference is that I can show them a books worth of data explaining how it's not dangerous. Can't exactly do that with Meth. It just really irritates me when people dismiss pot or those smoking it, just because they can't get off their high horse.
By the way, this post isn't directed by anyone in this thread. I know that all of you that don't smoke have even stated you don't have a problem with it. |

Just a lil' FYI... I can completely understand that viewpoint. I'm not much of a drink either, and I believe the main reason is that most of time spent at parties in high school, instead of drinking, I'd be smoking, then I'd see all my friends who were drinking acting like complete obnoxious assholes and doing the most inappropriate shit that I know a sober version of themselves would never consider. Subsequently, for awhile, I was under the impression that I never wanted to drink...ever. But times change.... Last edited by Smiert Spionam; 11-04-2009 at 03:00 PM.. |

![]() When I went there everyone smoked pot. There was one street in particular in Muncie where just about everyone was a pot dealer. I smoked a shit ton in college (esp my senior year). Just about everyday during my senior year since my class schedule was a complete joke. Now that I am out of college I dont smoke as much but some weekends I do light it up all weekend long which is nice. I also see what you are saying in regards to people thinking pot smoking is wrong but they have no problem getting completely bombed on tequilla or Jager. Have fun getting your stomach pumped, while I light up another bowl! |

Count, it can help with that. Weed can have a pain numbing effect. When I cut my palm and had to get it stitched, the doctor gave me a prescription to Oxycontin but it didn't relieve the pain like I wanted to so I tried weed instead and it actually did numb the pain and I felt better that way. I flushed the pills down the toilet.
Okay, I'm joking about the flushing. I shared em around. But weed can help with arthritis pain. But I wouldn't say it's guaranteed. It probably depends on the strain. An indica would probably be better for that since you get more of a body high, which relaxes you a great deal. |

Only smoked a few times, but I enjoyed it. Just really relaxed. Enjoy drinking more though- seems more social like. I can kill at some Beer Pong. But the times I did smoke were with my, apparently creepy, friend (Im 16, he's 25, I guess it is weird. We're like brothers though). And it was just us making jokes for like an hour.
