Just read a bit of casting rumors over on Cinema Blend.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Jim-C...axy-35268.html

So far, Marvel has managed to think way outside of the box with its upcoming adaptation of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. That line of contemplation may continue if a hiring rumor we’re hearing comes to pass.

Latino Review, which has solid plants deep in the Marvel machine, reports that Marvel is looking at two mega-profile comedians to join the ensemble, and dropped the names Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler as those being considered. The site didn’t know what roles that they’d be vying for, just that the movie needed “comic relief,” and the schedules of those two actors were being checked. Maybe they would voice Rocket Raccoon?

In the same piece, LR adds a few names to the short list of actors being considered for Peter Quill, the half-human, half-alien law-enforcement agent who leads the Guardians under the guise of Star-Lord. Review says that its sources confirm that Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell and Cam Gigandet are in the mix for the part, but that no offers have been made at the moment.

Guardians is an unconventional comic-book property, and Marvel is approaching it with a little more freewheeling daring-do than they have, say, a traditional Iron Man or Thor movie. Hiring Super director James Gunn, for instance, was a bold step in a fresh direction, which is why I’m keeping a very open mind to the possibility of Sandler in a Marvel movie … no matter the role. Carrey, on the other hand, is playing a superhero (of sorts) in Kick-Ass 2, has played a villain in a Batman movie, and already seems like a better fit for a bigger-budget Marvel movie than Sandler, who has never sniffed an action-driven tentpole movie.

All of this is tentative, and a lot more blocks have to fall into place before Guardians of the Galaxy drops in theaters. But for the time being, what do you think of this casting rumor?

Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, Parks and Recreation) has just been announced as the lead role in this film.

That's just plain awesome.

Benicio Del Toro has landed a leading role in Guardians of the Galaxy as well as having an option for multiple future Marvel film movies. His role is not officially announced so this is just guesswork but I think he is either playing Thanos or Dr. Strange.

Description of the footage shown and it sounds pretty awesome as well as funny.

Spoiler:
TWe see a desolate alien world, where Peter Quill, aka Starlord, is going inside an ancient temple. He uses a light globe to illuminate the interior, and then goes to steal an old alien orb.

Some alien cops come in with big guns to stop him. "Drop it now," orders their leader, Borath (Djimon Hounsou). And he asks Quill who he is. "Starlord," he replies. "Who?" Borath asks. "Starlord, man. Legendary outlaw." Starlord is wounded. "Forget it."

Then we see someone activate a wrist transceiver, and we're in an alien prison, where five creatures have been arrested on Zandar. We see holographic "rapsheets" for all five of them — Drax the Destoryer, Gamora (Zoe Saldana), a personal death machine, Rocket Raccoon, who has over 50 charges of vehicular theft and escape from lockup, Groot, a houseplant/muscle, and then Starlord himself.

Rhomann Dey (John C. Reilly) narrates the whole thing with intense snark, especially when he gets to the part about how Peter Quill calls himself Starlord. Listening to this, Quill cranks up his middle finger as if he's working a creaky machine. Later, Quill is in prison and Drax is listening to his personal stereo, which is playing a bouncy "gamba gamba" tune. Quill is offended — and then he gets tased.

And then we saw a montage of tons of action footage, including a two-headed alien shooting a gun, a prison riot, tons of Gamora putting the smackdown on people, Rocket Raccoon shooting a big gun with a vicious look on his face.

The footage ends with John C. Reilly saying, "They call themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy. What a bunch of A-holes." And we see the five of them lined up, like the Usual Suspects.

Well, that looks a lot better than I thought it would--especially Groot and Rocket. I just hope this doesn't end up like Watchmen where it's good, has a high budget, but doesn't find its audience.

The same site just updated the same page with 2 new clips, one clip features Pratt's character Star-Lord while the other features Rocket Raccoon!

I think today might hold the record for most comic book leaked footage ever in one day!

I heard that Marvel was originaly planning on announcing Bradly Cooper for the voice of Rocket Raccoon today... But with the whole Internet blowing up over Affleck, I assume they're waiting for that to die down first before they make any sort of announcement.

Interesting interview with Kevin Feige, tells more information about the Guardians of the Galaxy. He also confirms that Thanos plays a larger role in this film.

Bradley Cooper is also officially voicing Rocket Raccoon.

I'd never heard of these characters before this movie that was announced and now that I have, I have no idea how this can be anything other than a CGI shitfest. A raccoon and a tree, seriously???

I have a funny feeling that Rocket Raccoon is going to be the breakout star of next summer - much in the same way that people went ga-ga over Hulk in The Avengers.
