It's not exactly another GHOSTBUSTERS movie, but it seems like it could be the closest we ever get (despite reports to the contrary).

An all-new GHOSTBUSTERS adventure is coming in videogame form, and Atari has announced an official release date of June 16, 2009 (with global release on the 19th). The date coincides with the movie's 25th anniversary, along with its release on hi-def Blu-Ray DVD. The game arrives on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, with other versions for PS2 and Nintendo's Wii and DS.

About the game: "In addition to Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, original Ghostbusters Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story set two years after Ghostbusters II, with Manhattan once again overrun by ghosts and supernatural forces. The player joins up as a new recruit with the original team, testing a variety of unique equipment and gadgets, to track, wrangle and trap this wide range of awe-inspiring phantasms in an all new funny and frightening battle to save New York City from its latest paranormal plague."

You can check out the trailer below.

When you're walkin' down the street...
Yup, they can only do GBIII justice if the original four are the focus. It would be alright to have some new blood in there in supporting roles, but the 50+ (in some cases 60+) 'busters have to be the stars.

Man. That is.. some lame music right there. Lyrical content is fail. I love me some Rick Moranis just like the next person.. but I wouldn't listen to his music willingly ever again.

I actually am glad Murray is so hesitant about another movie. I mean, since the first sequel didn't exactly knock my socks off, would a second one be any better? Having said that, I'm more than game for the return of those four, and hopefully Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, and Rick Moranis (what ever happened to that guy anyway?).

As long as the original stars are still THE stars (and not a bunch of new jerks with the originals as a bunch of old fogeys), I'm more than game.

If they can bring back Indiana Jones, John McClane, Rambo, and Rocky; they sure as hell can bring back the Ghostbusters. If, you know, Bill Murray wasn't such a douche about doing another one.

Well...
No, it is never too late for another Ghostbusters movie with the OGBs. Unless of course one of them dies before they make it. But if [link] is to be believed...then they're already working on it.
