FOR THE LOVE OF GI JOE!
Stephen Sommers is a 'fun' director. He makes 'fun' movies. I own Van Helsing on DVD because it's fun to watch and that's about it. He pays very little attention to good visuals and CGI yet he wants to bombard his movies with them. If he cared, Dracula's brides in Helsing wouldn't have looked so f**kin' CGI-like! I see GI Joe gain a lotta money for the sake of it, and for the nostalgic value. There's no story here people, move along, move along... |

PLEASE, NO.
I've been looking forward to this one, but Sommers loves CGI too much to make me feel good about this. After this comes out, you'll think that people are telling you to "see GI Joe"; only what they'll really be saying is the movie's new title, "CGI Joe". They might as well go ahead and change it officially right now if Sommers is on board.
And I agree with MovieMaverick, about taking out the word "Badass" for describing this one. Now we'll have to split the word, and use the two halves separately, "bad" and "ass", to describe the movie. |

YES, LAME.
Yeah I have to agree with Paulie. I absolutely DESPISE Sommers' films. You can officially take BADASS as one of the words to describe this film idea now. |

TO CLARIFY NAPA79
transformers was good because speilberg got very involved. interviews with the screenwriters reveal bay didnt know how to bring these guys to life beyond chases and explosions and it was spielberg who suggested the bumblebee/shia relationship mirror ET/Elliot. It's not bay who made you actually sympathetic to robots. and this GI Joe director couldnt even make me sympathetic to HUMANS. the transformer's writer's interview podcast can be found at Creative Screenwriting.
Calling speilberg... |

Now there's no reason to get excited, for sure. Both The Mummy and Van Helsing sucked ass. |

GREAT.
They should base the movie off of the remixes, with a plot that involves stolen pork chop sandwiches and evil electrical wire that comes to life. And, since the Transformers movie saw Optimus Prime with lips, they should just go ahead and take Duke's lips away. |

It looks like their trying to do something like Transformers by getting a notoriously shitty director and an old saturday morning cartoon. Hopefully it will be better than Transformers. |

I had the toys, was glued to the screen for the animated series, but that was ages ago. Who do they think they're going to appeal to with this now?
Transformers was interesting for it's translation to a real movie because it was impossible to make untill now.
A G.I. Joe movie, which will be as kiddy friendly as the cartoon I'm sure, won't make much of an impression for the fans of the past. Unless they go for the rougher comic book style which G.I. Joe also had, this is probably going to be 2 hours of non leathal A-team action. |
