Goss on Tekken Jul. 18, 2008
Source: MTV
by: James Thoo

Luke Goss spoke to MTV recently about the upcoming TEKKEN movie that pretty much no one is interested in hearing about. Still, I'll bite, since I used to play the game obsessively, and much like STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN LI, have at least some vested interest in how it turns out.

“The same producers were very adamant to make sure that the characters that were in the game translated quite literally to the movie — visually and everything... Their fight styles were studied and the way they looked, the producers wanted people that looked similar to the actual characters in the game. They understood that genre fans and game fans would want that. I think they did a good job.”

Of course, on a scale of how much that means about the quality of the film, that comment ranks just around 'diddley squat'. But Goss is cool, and I like the game, so... umm... yeah! Rock on!

Extra Tidbit: Goss will be playing an older version of the character Steve Fox.

WHO CARES
Why make a movie based on a fighting game? They usually suck anyway cause the characters are always overdone. I still have no faith in the new Street Fighter either.

AWW..
They blew a golden opportunity to have Goss star as Brian (the cyborg dude in the snakeskin pants from Tekken 3). Probably not even including Brian in this one, but that would've been perfect fucking casting.

You'd figure people would learn their lesson afg=ter dead or alive, street fighter and mortal kombat 2.....but I guess not! I'll just sit back and watch the fuck-up that is the live action tekken movie!

I DONT GET IT...
How are you going to have Eddie, Christie, and Raven which showed up in parts 3-5 but not have Paul? Who is the best friend of Marshall Law and they both try to out do eachother. And no King?! I mean come on

I used to play Tekken 2 obsessively back then. If they can make Tekken movie as good/okay as the 1st Mortal Kombat movie, I'm all ears. But not Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Well, I'm impressed that they care so much about it. I wish that video game movies got as much attention as comic ones. I love Mortal Kombat so much, and I enjoy the first Mortal Kombat movie but in no way was it a masterpiece.

so hopefully this one gets what it deserves.

Was the supposed teaser poster and plot synopsis for this that "leaked" ages ago ever confirmed or debunked?

BOUT TIME
i'm glad they are actually paying attention to detail on a video game movie for once, if you check the IMDB page most of the actors are little known but look very similar to the characters they will be playing and most of them are amazing fighters. Now all they have to do is scrape together a story that isnt completely retarded and make sure the action sequences will make up for any story issue. We dont want another DOA or Resident Evil Extinction.
