Gugino in Sucker Punch

One of the movies anticipated from Zack Snyder, SUCKER PUNCH, just got a new reason to be anxious: Carla Gugino.

In case you haven’t heard of it yet, SUCKER PUNCH seems like a twist between “Cinderella” and “Alice in Wonderland”, and it’s just that…twisted. Snyder’s description of the movie makes me laugh and cheer all at the same time, “It’s Alice in Wonderland with machine guns. The story is set in the 1950’s, and follows a girl who is confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While imprisoned, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain. In this fantasy world, where she needs to steal five objects to help her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.” That sounds like fun to me, except for the lobotomy part.

I’ll go see it, the only thing that bothers me is Vanessa Hudgens, especially because I think she is secretly trying to ruin my life (This is only because she is in talks to be the lead in the “Dead@17” movie). Besides Vanessa, the so far all girl cast is great: Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Abbie Cornish, and Jamie Chung. I’m not really into Jamie Chung either, but that’s only because I got annoyed with her when she was on the REAL WORLD: SAN DIEGO.

But Gugino will make an exceptional addition to the cast, and I can’t wait to see more as they start filming. SUCKER PUNCH’s tentative released is 2011.
