Guns 'N Roses 'N Leo Sep. 30, 2008
Source: Rolling Stone
by: Dave Davis

Hey, remember all the excitement when rockers Guns 'N Roses were going to be involved with the Dirty Harry flick THE DEAD POOL? Well, since a lot of you were in grade school or at least a decade away from reliable internet resources, probably not. Maybe you read about it in Creem or Kerrang.

If there's still anyone out there whose interest in the band goes beyond morbid curiosity or slightly embarrassing nostalgia, you'll be thrilled to know some new material is finally on the way from yowling frontman Axl Rose and whoever currently plays instruments behind him.

After countless years of working on the new album "Chinese Democracy", a track called "If the World" is being unleashed, and it's associated with a fairly high-profile film. The song will reportedly be over the closing credits of BODY OF LIES, Ridley Scott's impending action-espionage film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. So you can listen to Axl's attempted vocals while learning who provided the production's catering. Bonus!

Another track will be included in the videogame ROCK BAND 2, and the Duffless and Slash-free Guns 'N Roses album, which will be a Best Buy exclusive, is expected on November 25th. Believe it or whatever.

Thanks to 'Tyler V.' for being so effing metal.

Extra Tidbit: "Sweet Child O' Mine" played over the end credits of the 80s horror flick BAD DREAMS before becoming an unavoidable hit.

No Slash, no GnR.

This new stuff might be great (haven't heard it) but I don't understand why he didn't go with a different name for the new band.

Buckethead's album is Colma, not Coma (the GN'R song).
P.S.: Ridley Scott already wanted to include Welcome to the jungle in Black hawk down.

FRACK THE HATERS.
GN'R is my favourite band of all time. Use your illusions I and II are my favourite albums of all time (I've probably listened to those fuckers about 1'500 times). Appetite for destruction has just been certified 18 times platinum in the States. Since that announcement, there's been more talk about this movie than for the past 12 months. Nobody cares about GN'R? Yeah, right, the (shitty, by the way) Greatest hits has sold about 4,2 millions copies in the US, about 9 in the world). Fuck Kurt Cobain (may he rot in his tomb for ever), fuck Nirvana (Layne Staley was a god, not that overrated prick). I couldn't care less about Metallica, I couldn't care less about an AC/DC without Bon Scott (buy their latest single, you'll have about 80% of their songs from the past 25 years). Oh, Slash quit: listen to the two aweful Velvet revolver CDs, then to ALL the Chinese democracy links, then you'll understand why he couldn't have fit in. The only past GN'R member that I regret is Izzy Stradlin (a far superior song writer than Slash), but Richard Fortus is a fuckin' god, Tommy Stinson rules (at 12 bassist for the Replacements!) and Bumblefoot seems to be the nicest guy on earth. And for the morons who don't know shit: Buckethead (a god, but listen to his albums Coma and Elecric tears: THAT GUY CAN PLAY ACCOUSTIC GUITAR LIKE NOBODY ELSE) is not in the band anymore, so just shut up wnen you don't know what you're talking about. If the world is a beautiful song, NOT A ROCKER, but requires a few listens.

but don't even think for a second that metallica is even on the same planet as the GNR of the past
