As we know, the HALO movie as it existed with Peter Jackson, Neil Blomkamp and Alex Garland, is dead. But writer Stuart Beattie went ahead and wrote his own spec script, based on the novel "Halo: Fall Of Reach", and conceptual artist Kasra Farahani (SPIDERMAN 3) worked on some concept art as part of a presentation to Microsoft. Will that film eventually get made? Who knows, at this point. But here is a look at that artwork all the same!

Of course, for some of you who are huge fans of the game, this might just be like turning the knife further into your beating heart. I guess in my universe it would be like if Warner Bros. released a screencap for a since declared defunct movie where Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays a rogue black ops assassin with a split personality. One minute she is sexually innocent librarian, Veronica, and the next she is Tanya McTits, a nymphomaniac with a bad streak. "The most dangerous weapon is the one you can't trust". Great, now I'm disappointed it's not really happening.
Extra Tidbit:
On September 25, 2007, the release date for Halo 3, Microsoft's shares rose 1.7 % based on sales expectations for the game.

I agree with you man. I never thought that the halo games were that great either. I dont see whats so special about em. They are not bad games, but they arent great either. But for the movie i really dont care. |

Well, games are one of the few mediums in which a franchise will usually get better with each new installment, so I figured I'd give each new one a shot. I'll readily admit that there were improvements as the series progressed, but to me most of them were technical (graphics etc.) To me the gameplay stayed more or less the same (at least in the campaign) and the story was really nothing special, unlike, say, Bioshock for example.
So like I said, I've never hated Halo, I just think that it's been pretty average up to this point. Also, I don't know whether or not you were addressing me when you were talking about hating the idea of a Halo flick based on one piece of concept art, but I never actually made mention of that. |

Mister NOIR, if you had no interest in Sci-fi, no interest in the multiplayer, and never found the first game any more than average, why would you play the rest of them at all. and dont hate on the prospect of a movie because of the concept art. that is just kinda lame. it is one picture by one artist made to give people an idea of certain scenes. |

I've never understood Halo's popularity. Could be something to do with the fact that I don't really care for sci-fi in general, but after playing through the campaigns of all 3 games I thought each one was only slightly above average.
Never got into the multiplayer side of things, and despite the fact that no less than 400 trillion people have told me that I need to play the multiplayer, I've really got no interest in that. Wouldn't have had much interest in a movie either. |

It just gets worse the more money they try to make of this. |

Wow. I never much cared for the "Halo" games, but the storyline was fairly sound, and I figured it might translate fairly well to the big screen. If that art's any indication, though, thank god it was scrapped. |

it is not hard to figure out why a Halo movie hasnt been made yet. i am a huge fan of the Halo franchise and could definitely see how they can make it into a movie, problem being, no matter how they write the script, it would consist of a HUGE amount of special effects and CGI, the movie would cost A LOT ($100+ million), and they most likely wouldnt make their money back, pretty simple reason for it not becoming a reality |
