With TRANSFORMERS doing gangbusters at the box-office and GI JOE set to do the same next summer, you just knew that HE-MAN wasn’t going to die an easy death. While it may have seemed that the live-action movie was dead in the water, it’s not necessarily true. Latino Review is reporting that John Stevenson (KUNG FU PANDA) is attached to direct the film for producer Joel Silver. Stevenson, who would make his live-action directorial debut with the film, impressed producers with a recent pitch on the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE universe. It’s unclear if any of this will include Justin Marks’ previously written GRAYSKULL script. Stevenson has an extensive background in animation and art direction going all the way back to 1981’s THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER. He got his first gig directing on the failed DreamWorks animated TV series “Father of the Pride.” As long as Stevenson’s pitch includes Teela in a real skimpy bikini, I’m good to go.
