Hi-res Watchmen! Jul. 31, 2008

I know we covered these seven WATCHMEN during Comic-Con but those were shitty camera shots. Now Zack Snyder has made them officially official at the official WATCHMEN site and these you just have to see in hi-res. Here's a message from Zack: Comic-Con was great this year. Thanks to everyone who attended the Watchmen panel or stopped by the booth to say hello. It was great having the chance to show a little additional footage and hear what you all had to say. Here are hi-res versions of the limited edition Comic-Con posters. Click each poster to see it in super hi-res where you can examine for all kinds of hidden goodness (and debate whether Laurie or Dr. Manhattan has a better ass)!

Epic. These are the most HQ ones on the net right now. Also, I'm pretty sure Silk Spectre II's legs are illegal in some states...

I grabbed a digital version of the graphic novel to get up to speed with Watchmen. I've heard about it over the past twenty-odd years, but never read it; now's my chance before the awesome-looking movie :)

I'm starting to have more confidence in this flick... These border on sublime.

They managed to strike a perfect balance between your typical character onesheet and an artistic/avant garde kinda feel.

My only concern is that if this movie DOES turn out to be a masterpiece, it might not get the widespread recognition or appreciation it deserves. Sad as it may seem, the simple fact is that the Watchmen don't appeal to as broad an audience as a character like Batman.

Then again, V for Vendetta did pretty well, so I guess we'll know come next June.

The details in the background are great little pieces of fan service. I'm still a little nervous, but I really am hyped for this flick!

But does anyone else think these posters just look like terrible photoshop projects? I mean everything is so painfully fake except the characters. Well, except for all the non-blue characters anyways.

The backgrounds look like set pieces out of a Myst game or something. What's the deal?
