Every year at pretty much every end of the Earth, there will be a benefit in which people come extra dressed up to look fashionable and say that it's for a fund-raising cause. The AmFar New York Gala was held in New York last night and there was a good mix of different faces who showed up to support the benefit's cause: raising money for AIDS research and this year paying tribute to the late trustee Natasha Richardson, one of the many good people who perished in the great Celebrity Apocalypse of 2009. I could stand to never look at Lady Gaga ever again, but it causes me pause to wonder if that's what my parents were thinking when they used to watch a young Madonna. Nah... even Madonna's day-glo colors and bared tummy couldn't come close to the "fashion mess" that Gaga sports. As someone wise once wrote, "Fashion is fleeting, style is forever." Case in point, of course, is the third-time mommy Heidi Klum. But I hate to play favorites. Really.
