So what does a recent Golden Globe winner and now 5 time nominee for Oscar do amidst all the hubbub and praise swirling around her like angry bees? Go shopping, of course. And in super tight blue jeans no less, which is a nice little unintended yet appreciated thank you to all the loyal fans who helped make her probably the frontrunner for Oscar love this year. I heard some folks shitting on Amy for her Golden Globe acceptance speech, claiming it had a disingenuous tone or something. They always seem to feel that way when a sure bet wins. Unless they turn into blubbering mess, whatever is said becomes too long or too short or too gushing or whatever. Amy's got a lot of people to thank and plenty of things to be thankful for. Good for her.
That's just the haters hating on a sure bet. No one was surprised that Amy's name got called. Everyone was fairly sure she was going to be the winner. Yet it feels like many are itching for a dark horse winner. They want to see the lesser known name come from behind with an upset win. Things like that seem less and less likely in the ultra competitive, heavily campaigned nominee environment that now exists in Hollywood. Folks seem to know who's going to win the big prizes ahead of time and rarely are they proven wrong. Sure, they might decide to give Meryl Streep a 4th bald guy or Sandra Bullock her 2nd. Don't be surprised if it's Amy thanking her kid again before a billion people. I've got my money on her.
