Before you freak out or have an acid flashback, just remember we've been through this sort of thing once before with real-life anime girl Anastasiya Shpagina. Remember her? Well, that up there is her friend and internet celebrity Valeria Lukyanova, who has turned her body into a life-size Barbie doll, and yes, it's scary as f*ck. Both girls are from the Ukraine, and I hate to further disturb you, but there's plenty more of them popping up as of late. They probably shouldn't have let that evil genetical engineer take over the toy factory. When pictures of Valeria broke out earlier this year, many thought them to be fake, until V magazine recently went out and hunted her down (not literally, unfortunately). “Many people say bad things about people who want to perfect themselves,” she says. “It’s hard work, but they dismiss it as something done by surgeons or computer artists. But I don’t take them seriously. I’m even flattered! It’s what success is like. I’m happy I seem unreal to them, it means I’m doing a good job.” A good job that takes a team effort.
"Hold still, sweetie, you wouldn't want to look ridiculous!"
If there's anything in Valeria's life that's as phony as her appearance, it's her "career path". She's currently a teacher at the School of Out-of-Body Travel. Yup. “It’s an international school in which our instructors show students how to leave their physical body and travel in their spiritual body, where you can visit any place on the planet and in the universe.” So she spends all this time beautifying and "perfecting" her body, and then leaves it. Yeah, makes sense. Oh, and she's also a singer and mountain-climber. I understand that Barbie has been an inspiration to many young women who wind up working in the industry of fashion or beauty, but this is an all new extreme. What do you think?
