I like it better when Ridley Scott is playing around in space, so I'm not all that hot to trot on going to catch a viewing of ROBIN HOOD even though once upon a time, I was one of the many women who found Russell Crowe to be a delectable Aussie. (Sam Worthington is, well... worthy of that torch passing but I have this sinking feeling he's going to flame out as well.) Over the years, Crowe actually hasn't made too many movies in comparison with a lot of other actors of his caliber, but when he makes them, he sure does like a pretty piece of brunette eye candy with him. Here's the Battle of Crowe's Bombshell Brunettes.

Marion Cotillard

I suppose you could agree to disagree with me on Marion Cotillard (starring with Crowe in 2006's A GOOD YEAR, something I haven't watched) but her looks have definitely grown on me over the last couple of years. She looks stunning on a red carpet and tends to take some sublimely beautiful stills when working with a good photographer, but she does have one of those take-it-or-leave-it types of beauty. I'll stay on the take-it side of the fence and cop to thinking that this Frenchie is no poodle.

When in doubt, go for the classic. Jennifer Connelly played Crowe's long-suffering wife in the multi-award winning 2001 drama, A BEAUTIFUL MIND. There really isn't much of a debate about how beautiful Jen Con is, but we can all pretty much weep over her decision to size down the sweater puppies and get to that emaciated form she was displaying when she won her Oscar for the role she played.

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek has been in so many oddball movies that I wouldn't expect to see her in that it doesn't surprise me that there's a 1997 film called BREAKING UP that she did with Crowe. I haven't seen the movie and don't have a burning desire to (hell, I'm kind of wondering why I thought Crowe was so hot when I look over his body of work and realize that I've only seen a handful of the films he's starred in, go figure...), but she fits nicely into the category and I think makes the mix a cool field, spicing it up with her Latina flair.

Extra Tidbit: There were quite a few of you last week who had some mommy complexes going on, if you consider thinking about boinking someone else's mom to be a complex. Sarah Chalke came out the MILF on top of the TV star babes, with 19 (46%) of the votes. Alyson Hannigan came in the number two MILF with 14 (34%) of the votes. Rebecca "Mystique" Romijn held up a decent third place finish with 8 (20%) of the votes.

A close call, but I gotta go with Jennifer. Even now she draws my attention in anything she is in, no matter how unwatchable (I am still in awe of how the makers of "He's just not that into you" could fill the screen with such a plethora of babes and make such a pile of drivel).

I've never quite seen what everyone else in the world appears to see in Salma Hayek. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't kick her out of bed for farting, but she just doesn't really do it for me. It's really got to be Jennifer Connelly for me, if anything she's getting more beautiful over time, and I just find her face hypnotic to look at (GREAT choice of pic, BTW).
