There have been a number of them over the years, this iconic Catwoman person. Since we already talked about our latest edition to the pantheon of feline females, I thought we could discuss three of the other more prominent version that took place before Anne Hathaway took over for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. As if you have anything else worth discussing this week.
She might have only gotten into a dominatrix styled outfit when she played a Doll for the rich on the short-lived series "Dollhouse," but Eliza has been a slinky character for the animated BATMAN: YEAR ONE, so that counts enough for my math. Out of many, I'm surprised that she wasn't cast for TDKR other than the fact that her acting is abysmal and makes Hathaway look like Kate Winslet in comparison. Physically, I would have preferred her in the role, if only for those action scenes.
One of my biggest secrets is about to get spilled right now. While I have a deep affectionate love for all things campy, I have to disclose that I've never watched Halle Berry's CATWOMAN. I've heard people discussing it to the point where I don't think it would be fun even as a joke. Berry is another one of those women in Hollywood that I think is mighty fine but I question the accolades that she's received as an actress. Plus, she's just comes off as too cat-shit crazy in her disclosed personal life for me to be all that turned on by her.
Like many young girls in my age demographic, I think Michelle became an icon the minute I listened to her croon about wanting a "Cool Rider." I know that GREASE 2 is laughable in pretty much all regards but without it, would we ever have gotten a chance to see Pfeiffer rise to the iconic shelf where she now resides? I think not. Plus... can anyone else process that Pfeiffer was a 34-year old Catwoman for Burton and Berry was 38-years old when she pranced out in 2004? Weird, eh?
