Battle of the Babes #218: Catwoman Battle

Jul. 19, 2012by: Cherry Liquor

There have been a number of them over the years, this iconic Catwoman person. Since we already talked about our latest edition to the pantheon of feline females, I thought we could discuss three of the other more prominent version that took place before Anne Hathaway took over for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. As if you have anything else worth discussing this week.

Eliza Dushku

She might have only gotten into a dominatrix styled outfit when she played a Doll for the rich on the short-lived series "Dollhouse," but Eliza has been a slinky character for the animated BATMAN: YEAR ONE, so that counts enough for my math. Out of many, I'm surprised that she wasn't cast for TDKR other than the fact that her acting is abysmal and makes Hathaway look like Kate Winslet in comparison. Physically, I would have preferred her in the role, if only for those action scenes.

Halle Berry

One of my biggest secrets is about to get spilled right now. While I have a deep affectionate love for all things campy, I have to disclose that I've never watched Halle Berry's CATWOMAN. I've heard people discussing it to the point where I don't think it would be fun even as a joke. Berry is another one of those women in Hollywood that I think is mighty fine but I question the accolades that she's received as an actress. Plus, she's just comes off as too cat-shit crazy in her disclosed personal life for me to be all that turned on by her.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Like many young girls in my age demographic, I think Michelle became an icon the minute I listened to her croon about wanting a "Cool Rider." I know that GREASE 2 is laughable in pretty much all regards but without it, would we ever have gotten a chance to see Pfeiffer rise to the iconic shelf where she now resides? I think not. Plus... can anyone else process that Pfeiffer was a 34-year old Catwoman for Burton and Berry was 38-years old when she pranced out in 2004? Weird, eh?

Which Catwoman gives you the worst case of fever?

Michelle Pfeiffer

Of course. CINO sucks, but to give Berry some credit she might have been good if the script was and she didn't battle an evil face cream from a bland villain. And if it was in Gotham and all that.

I while I too was surprised with the casting of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman (She's beautiful and talented, but even after ten months in the gym she's still a twig.) I must point out that when Nolan cast Health Ledger as the Joker there was a substantial amount of out cry yet he did a phenomenal job with the role. At this point in the game, I trust his judgment. I Think she'll do fine with the role, but I find it surprising that Eliza (Who has never played Catwoman) was chosen over her, or even

Pfeiffer!

I want a c-o-o-l, r-i-d-e-r! Berry's as fine as they come, but Pfeiffer is the #1 queen!

Michelle Pfeiffer, no question

This isn't even a contest for me. Michelle gave (another) great performance in a highly underrated movie, playing both sides of a deeply conflicted character. I loved the duality of Selina's tentative romance with Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne mixed with the love-hate battles she had with Batman. Brilliant stuff.

Yes, Halle Berry looks fine but she's catshit-crazy and that movie was crap (accepting the Razzie was a classy move, though). And Eliza isn't even in the running.

Halle's body, Michelle Pfeiffer EVERYTHING else. If you have ever seen Michelle in anything else, you would see how different this was from any role she ever played, and how well she did it. Batman Returns was great pretty much BECAUSE of her. Halle's Catwoman is one of the worst films ever made. Michelle all the way.

Halle who?

Dushku's voice was excellent in Year One but I would need to see her in the outfit. I am going with Michelle for this one.

Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether were gorgeous. I think a Catwoman outfit in a live-action film should look utilitarian and serve a purpose, as opposed to blatant titillation like Halle Berry's. Michelle Pfeiffer's outfit was symbolically significant because the haphazard, patched-up together nature reflected Selina Kyle's tortured psyche. However, Anne Hathaway nailed the part. That characterisation was truly the closest to the comics I've seen in a live-action film and she looked gorgeous

They made high heels on a superheroine outfit make sense!

This is a very unfair battle. Michelle obliterates the other two

I didn't even look at the pictures.

So let's see, out of Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt and Anne Hathaway, I'm going to go with Anne Hathaway. I loved Julie Newmar when the old Batman TV series was in syndication but the new Catwoman costume is sexier than anything from the 60s.
