You knew the day was coming where I would full on lose my mind on how to connect three babes together and call it a battle. Then again, I believe that I've already done that several times over and won a place in your good graces with forgiving comments. Or not and been wounded by your absence. In any case, this week's battle comes down to 1 simple thing: the name C/Kate.
For me, Winslet has always been an object of debate. I adore her as an actress. I think she can be light and funny, deeply serious, never casting a glow of too much drama when the gentlest touch is needed. She rocks my movie watching socks off as an actress. But frankly? I don't find her as attractive as so many of my friends keep telling me that she is. Sure, she's a "natural" kind of pretty, but most certainly not a babe. However, since I'm usually alone in that thought, I'll allow her first consideration here since her acting more than makes up for a questionable percentage of looks.
Another poised and perfected actress, Blanchett is miles apart in the looks department from Winslet as far as my opinion is concerned. As she ages, she looks even better. When she's pregnant, she looks even better. When she's even acting as Queen Elizabeth, she pulls of beautiful. Where I cannot see the power of beauty in Winslet, Blanchett woos me over to her side. I can't describe why, it just is what it is. And that one gown that was sheer with the butterflies on Oscar night proves that she's got the power to make me remember stupid fashion trends based on the delicate trail of her spine.
For me, Beckinsale is no actress. She can't come anywhere near holding a candle to either of the other women in this battle. But I don't consider her overrated for what she does either. A positively radiant beauty who can be athletic, strong, spirited and light on her feet in action flicks, the very genre where you don't need to act well more than hit your marks and have the appropriate expressions, Beckinsale is a goddess.
Which is your favorite C/Kate?
