With the vast emptiness of movies opening this weekend, I have to focus a little on the concept of COUPLE'S RETREAT and just ignore the possibility that any woman has to become a wife, thus just focusing on how awesome she was as a girlfriend. Sure, wives are a dime a dozen, but you try finding a great chick to stick around with you when she's not legally obligated to.

Marisa Tomei

One of my personal favorites in the girlfriend department, the only reason why I will continually watch MY COUSIN VINNY is for the Oscar-winning turn (f*ck the haters on this one, if Kevin Kline can win for A FISH CALLED WANDA, Tomei can win for playing Mona Lisa Vito) by Tomei and her insane turn around of a shitty movie with a simple scene of some shrill voiced former hairdresser who knows more than a thing or two about cars. She was willing to stay with Pesci and sleep with him and that's simply amazing girlfriend stuff right there.

Rashida Jones

A more recent killer girlfriend was Jones in this year's I LOVE YOU, MAN. Yeah, I realize that she marries Rudd by the end of the film (sorry if that needed a spoiler) but at the start she's the chick who encourages him to go out and get friends. She doesn't want to get him out of her hair, she wants him to have his own life. And most of you guys out there understand that a chick who says it's alright to go have fun rather than harping on you doing something meaningful with them every week is a f*cking keeper.

Amy Smart

It all started with Eve. In the first CRANK, Smart was the ditzy blonde girlfriend of Chev Chelios, the chick who couldn't get a cell phone but was willing to screw her man in the middle of Chinatown in order to keep in alive. Eve kicks up several notches in CRANK: HIGH VOLTAGE, showing up as a stripper, a fighter and a bucking bronco derby f*cker. What's not to love about a girl who will do everything it takes for her man? Including getting a cell phone that she stores in a very interesting place.

Man, I really loved Rashida Jones in I Love You, Man. And she's great on The Office as well. If she continues the streak, she would seriously contend for the top spot.

But my pick goes to Smart whom I've been in love with for what seems like forever now. So gorgeous, and in some awesome movies (although I'm not a fan of the Crank movies...they just dont do "it" for me.) She's so good I'm sure I'd fall in love with any chick flick she'd be part of. Also, nice bewbs.
