DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS?
looks to be a disaster of epic proportions. I mean, didn't Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley already do something similar, only they pretended to be Amish? What I do
like is that Mary Steenburgen is a supporting actress to Sarah Jessica Parker. In fact, a lot of the actress's sidekicks have been far better looking than SJP herself. Let's go over them, shall we?
The more that I look over Sarah Jessica Parker's career, the more that I realize that she was the sidekick for the majority of her roles. If not that, then she makes damn sure she's the only female in the movie so that there can't be a comparison. However, she seemed to forget this when making FAILURE TO LAUNCH and getting the not only funnier but prettier Zooey Deschanel to play her roommate who gives her the what-far about the crap "job" that she has. Zooey turned out to be the best thing about that movie - not so good for SJP.
I could have gone with the more conventional actress from THE FAMILY STONE, Rachel McAdams, but I wanted to have it be a real supplemental character to SJP's uptight soon-to-be in-law who is looked down on by the entire family so much that she calls in her sister, Claire Danes. For some reason, I think the casting agent might have thought that Danes would make Parker look better by comparison. Didn't work. And she ends up getting together with her man too. Nice.
Probably the funniest thing about adding Ellen Page to the list of SJP sidekicks is that she's not a sidekick but she does verbally give her a few swift kicks in the movie. The daughter of the man who falls for Parker's character, Page is lost and delusional but still an amazing character in an otherwise pretty bad film. And again, after looking over Parker's movie roles, I thought it would be funny if a chick as young, simple and plain (while a great actress, Page is plain in the looks department, no matter which way you cut it) as Ellen could top this list.
