Her song is annoyingly catchy and her voice really isn't all that annoying (please don't make me refer back to that Rebecca Black creature) but here's something else that Carly Rae Jepsen
has going for her that few other pop stars in their wild scramble for money, fame and all that other nonsense have. Morals. While the singer was busy snuggling up to her audience during a London concert recently, showing that she's not about flash and dazzle but music and fan love, Jepsen also made the decision that she would not, no maybes, be performing at the National Scout Jamboree in Mount Hope, West Virginia this upcoming July. Because Carly's Canadian, she was slower to catch on to the anti-gay antics of the American organization. Rae announced on her Twitter, "As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer. I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level ... and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe."
I'm interested to see how this all shakes out. As someone who personally knows an Eagle Scout who was secretly gay the entire time he wanted to complete his training, I have to say, I support Jepsen. Totally.
