No, we don't mean the goofy superhero show. Everyone has thankfully forgotten about that. We're talking about everyday heroes whose contributions to the greater good were significant enough for CNN to give them some awards and a chance to mingle with celebrities in a red carpet setting. Bit of a surreal occasion, I'm sure. You got a guy who's helping kids with spinal injuries and another guy who recycles hotel soap to help fight disease in Africa, standing around mingling with some B and C-list celebs, most of whom haven't done anything much of value at all. Meanwhile, all of them are trying desperately not to acknowledge how ridiculous it is to judge real, meaningful contribution to society the same way someone might try to judge which sitcom is slightly less shitty than another, just so they can hand out a trophy to the "winner."
Oh well, at least they got to meet Deborah Ann Woll. That would be a sufficient pay it forward moment for me. She no doubt makes it all worth while.
