So claims the people who clearly need a hobby other than trying to determine deep meaning within Taylor Swift songs.
I have nothing against the little blonde pop tart (sorry honey, you ain't country) and find her to be mildly amusing when she tries her hand at acting gigs (her SNL stint was aiiight) but I draw the line at doing anything more than mentally blotting out the lyrics and melodies to her songs when they go into heavy rotation in every chain store that I try and buy my toilet paper. So I need special people in special places to clue me into the fact that on her upcoming album, titled "Speak Now," she's written a song about her former boyfriend, TWILIGHT star Taylor Lautner, as well as a song about her dalliance with the vocal & opinionated John Mayer.
What's cluing these special people into Swift supposedly having had a romance gone bad with Mayer? The song they say is about the former Aniston/Simpson/Hewitt humper is entitled "Dear John." Whoa! I think I might have figured that one out on my own (if I f*cking cared). According to Swift, her songs aren't begging to be made into INCEPTION 2. "They're all made very clear," she says. "Every single song is like a road map to what that relationship stood for, with little markers that maybe everyone won't know, but there are things that were little nuances of the relationship, little hints."
So what are these easy lyrics?
I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young
To be messed with
The girl in the dress
Cried the whole way home
I should've known.
It was wrong
Don't you think nineteen's too young
To be played
By your dark, twisted games
When I loved you so.
My mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine
You'll add my name to your long list of traitors
Who don't understand
And I'll look back in regret
I ignored what they said 'Run as fast as you can."
You tell me, is this song about Mayer or what?
