This week we got a couple ladies who tend to get mixed up with one another. I'm not exactly sure why some seem to get Zoe Saldana and Thandie Newton confused. I guess they're kind of similar in some ways. They are both copper-skinned beauties, both bearing similar skinny frames, both in the same kinds of movies. I'm not sure about the whole "they could be sisters" thing I hear folks say, but they're close enough to be two sides in a Face Off. So let's hear it. Which one of these two does their similar thing better?
They do have their similarities, but I'd say it's in this area where these ladies differ the most. Zoe's black and Latino heritage is usually a great combination for beautiful hotties. I'm usually pretty enthusiastic about Zoe's looks, but then there are times when I'm not. I don't know what it is exactly. Maybe she just needs the right lighting or she has some best side issues. Whatever it is, I've gone back and forth on her looks quite a lot, but have yet to come to a firm conclusion.
I don't think I've ever seen Thandie look bad in anything. She's used her mix of English and royal African heritage (her mom was a princess) to great effect through the years, quite often stealing the show as the prettiest face in the cast. I always assumed there were some Asian roots in her DNA as well, but apparently not. Whatever her heritage, I've never had any trouble appreciating Thandie's looks.
It's difficult for me to make a judgement here, as these two do have very similar frames. To be honest, I'm not really big on ladies as skinny as these two. Not to say that they have bad bodies. They're just not my thing. I like the curvier ladies. However, I'm going to make my call based on the one who has shown off the most of her body and that's Thandie. Body issues aside, I'll always give respect to the hotties willing to go full frontal.
The bodies these two own might not be my thing, but I'm not so preferential that I can deny the fact that they possess a certain innate hotness. I like that Zoe is no pushover. She's quite strong willed and defiant, both on and off the screen. She's also a bit of geek, which almost always fits with my prerequisites for hotness in the ladies. Even if she wasn't a geek, being so closely associated with geeky things gives her a certain degree of hotness all on its own.
Apart from her occasional nude scenes, Thandie's got a sensual air about her I've always appreciated. I can't put a finger on what it is about her that makes that so. She can play the demure lady or the conniving bitch and still be hot either way. I also like the way she carries herself. She's got an elegance about her. She's classy. Maybe it's those royal roots giving her a standout quality. Whatever it is, I like it.
Much of Zoe's fame nowadays comes from her connections to beloved movie franchises. I don't know if we'd be talking about her as much had she not played Uhura in her underwear in STAR TREK or lent out her likeness to create a giant, blue, half naked alien in AVATAR. Her various sideline gigs haven't fared as well, but she's got plenty of Uhura and Neytiri gigs to come in the next few years, which puts her in a pretty good place career wise.
Thandie has tried a few times, but hasn't really come through with a bigtime franchise hit. She's a good enough actress to hold her own in a number of more serious dramas, but I'm not sure that's sufficient to put these two on the same level. I'd call them both fairly equally matched as actors, but Zoe is more prominent in the public eye.
