I was slow to catch on to just how damn good of a singer
Christina Aguilera is. Hidden within the catchy pop tune "Genie in a Bottle" was more than just a girl who looked too much like the snotty bitch you went to school with who thought her shit didn't stink. Even if she
is a bitch in real life, I have to ask: Is that important to what she does for a living? Does her waistline or thicker thighs have such a huge impact that people would start to overlook her talent just because she's not living some unrealistic body ideal? One of the best lines in that gem of a short-lived series, "Samantha Who?" is when Samantha (Christina of the Applegate variety) explains that she climbs the stairs in her building to help keep her body 2 dress sizes below "its natural comfort zone." That's reality. Men are prone to the same thing. Our bodies, if we're not overindulging and not excessively exercising, have a natural size that they tend to hover around. Some people just have ones that are a little bit... softer. I'd rather see Xtina lose a few pounds of makeup than a few pounds of T&A. What do you think?
