The thing about getting older is a different beast for every stage that you go through. From being a teenager and going through either early development, your star rising as high as it's going to get from those young years (both boys and girls) to the waddling through the pond years of your 20's, where you freak out that you're getting too old too fast or you are blissfully ignorant of your decade until someone throws out that you're almost 30, to your actual 30's where family life, settling on a career, considering a family and all that are afforded to people who make more money than the collective income of the guests on "Maury."
It's all different. Which is why I crack up every time my mother - who just turned 65 last week - will bring up an actress such as Helen Mirren and talk about her (Mirren is 68, for the record) as if she's this old wise sage of an actress. One would think that once you're in your 60's that three years older wouldn't be all that big of a deal. But for some, like my obsessed with aging mother (I'll hand it to her and Mirren, both of them haven't had plastic surgery or anything to prolong their looks other than regular exercise, good eating habits and drinking lots of water), it's amazing how much those three little years mean to them. I allow my mom that. She's earned it.
(The magazine also had a couple of glamour shots of Penelope Cruz in it, thought I'd share them in here as well.)
