In this week's upcoming release THE FIGHTER, you get a chance to look at a rather average, ordinary guy become greater than what most people assume from him, rising above many of the low expectations set. I see one of the stars of that movie to be a fighter of her own. When you've got the heart in this beast of an industry, does that help to rise you above the others who succeed on natural talent/beauty alone?
Amy Adams makes me cry. This is not really a bad thing, it's proof that she's a champ at what she does: emote in the world of film to a degree which often times transcends the material that she's in. While I think that Adams has been wise in her choice of roles, it really says something when she can make you believe by sheer conviction of her talent that Amelia Earhart has come to life in a CGI museum of terrors.
Thing is, if you look really hard at Amy, she's not really beautiful. Without masterful make-up artists, perfect lighting and the touch of Photoshop, she can come off as plain. Her skin is pale but not without the smooth perfection that other fair-skinned beauties pull off. Her eyes have a slight fish quality to them, the color of faded aquarium water. Her body is petite but by no means note-worthy. If she passed you on the street while out doing errands, dressed as the prototypical mom-on-the-go, there wouldn't be any "OMG... check her out!" tinglings within your primitive brain centers.
But Adams comes to life with the softest bat of those funny eyes. She can tell stories with just the hint of a curve at the corner of her thin-lipped mouth. Her voice is as light and sparkly as a Lisa Frank fairy but you would go mad following its echo through blind forests. There is such MAGIC to Amy Adams. I don't really feel as if I can reduce her to an adjective as simple as "hot." For she is a creature whose existence comes along so rarely, to experience her in motion is a treasure.
What do you think of Amy Adams?
