Some babes are timeless, seeming born for the silver screen. Some burst onto the screen and make such a mark that they're forever burned into your retinas. Some babes have to work to convince you that they're worth your time. I would define this week's selection in the third manner. The "I wouldn't have noticed her if she hadn't kept at it" babe.
When she first started out, I remember it for RUBY IN PARADISE, and the buzz was that the youngest Judd daughter wasn't a big elephant (hey, I still say Winona has one of the most intriguing female singer voices I've ever heard, but the woman was the Khloe Kardashian of the world first, sticking out in her family) and wasn't a singer, but was taking off her clothes and being a mighty high on potential actress. And I had to agree, the very early Ashley had a very smoky appeal.
Then for the decade between 1995 and 2005, Judd seemed to turn into the chick who was reliable for being just good enough looking to cast as a lead and have the "average female movie goer" spending their dollars to see her films but not nearly as edgy of an actress as she hinted at being, nor the screen siren angle that she could have pursued. I liked HEAT as much as the next person, but we're also talking stuff like SIMON BIRCH and SOMEONE LIKE YOU... as well.
What do you think of Ashley Judd?
