Hello and welcome to the new Movie Hotties! Let me tell you, I'm having some trouble adjusting to all the spanking hot new stuff that's going on around here. My poor little brain is scrambling to keep up with all of the fancy do-dads and what-nots that have been added. So you'll pardon me if I'd like to take a step back into one of the more familiar women of cinema and see what you all think about her supposed hotness quotient, alrighty?
First thing about Carrie-Anne which needs to be stated is that she was born in Canada, which makes her one of the better exports, helping every day to counterbalance the effects of Celine & Avril & Nicklesuck. The other cool thing about her trivia wise is that as a PRISCILLA: QUEEN OF THE DESERT fan, I happen to think that it's cool that she's starred in other movies with all three of the leads from that film. Hugo Weaving in... well, you should know. Guy Pearce in MEMENTO (which is what made me think of her this week, what with INCEPTION getting released and all) and Terrence Stamp in RED PLANET.
What bugs me about Moss is that she's got a quality to her which just screams through the screen. She's an incredibly strong presence as an actress and yet she somehow got typecast into being this tough uber-babe because of the MATRIX movies (and yes, I'm one of those people who thinks that they never should have tacked on the 2 sequels). Here is a woman who could have had far more acclaim to her name if the people that be had allowed her to have the strong acting roles. She hasn't stopped churning them out, but no one seems to want to take notice of just how damn good she is as an actress because she's barely edging on that exotic hot chick look.
And that's what ultimately bugs me about Carrie-Anne. I would find her hotter if people didn't keep trying to force the idea of her hotness onto me. I would be totally behind her if I got to see more of her playing the sharp agent roles like in UNTHINKABLE and less of the idiot parent who is there for the sake of a parental presence needing to be involved so that a movie doesn't appear totally incredulous, like in DISTURBIA. Give me more MEMENTO and less FIDO. Is she hot? I'd like to believe so. Just let her give that to the audiences without it feeling so forced.
What do you think of Carrie-Anne Moss?
