Whenever I see titles on the front of magazines that read "An Action Actor Who Can Actually Act," I'm curious. Whenever I see this week's Hot or Not selection, I start singing the lyrics to "Don't Believe the Hype." JimmyO might know the guy and think he's a swell person but I haven't met him, so as far as his reputation goes, I'm basing this week's commentary on looks and acting quality alone.
Uhhhhhh.... Derrrrr. That's the expression that see on Channing Tatum's face, especially back in the old days when he was just starting out. Not only was he a boring-looking white guys with the abs being his only selling feature, He was giving me a major Cousin Cody vibe. And before the wife-beating charges, I thought Sasha Mitchell was kinda cute beyond the dumb character.
Anyone remember when Channing Tatum got fat? Sure doesn't seem fair that female actresses, singers and the like never get to live down the few excess pounds that they gain when they're not booked with any work, but that everyone has trotted along forgetting that this is what the time between STEP UP and and G.I. Joe looked like. He wasn't even considerate of his commentary on it, saying that people were just mean and that he could easily carry a few extra pounds and it didn't matter. Again... dude, really? You care barely act and you only get cast when your six-pack is showing. You're not really THAT stupid, are you?
Now it's time to consider if you're interested in going to see WHITE HOUSE DOWN where they make the white trash service dude look brighter and more intelligent than the black president. Yeah, ok. If it were anyone other than Foxx, it might be believable. Cast Katt Williams in that role. Oh, no, wait... he's not the right kinds of black dude to cast in that role. I can only hope that the baby Channing made with wife Jenna Dewan doesn't get his satellite Dumbo ears. I didn't like him from the start and with every ounce of popularity that he's given, essentially stealing roles from guys who could be action stars and REALLY be able to act but don't have the der-der-der clout that Channing has, make me all that much more bitter. I don't find him physically attractive. I don't find him talented as an actor AT ALL. But I've grown accustomed to nurturing that stance.
What do you think of Channing Tatum?
