I really don't like Kyle Gallner. I understand that I am basing a majority of that opinion on the character of Beaver from "Veronica Mars" but I still don't like that actor. Without giving too much away regarding the ratings juggernaut that is "The Walking Dead" or the fact that Gallner showed up in the past Sunday night's episode, kicking off the fourth season of the zombie show, let's just say that I prefer this week's hot or not selection over him. But do you?
"The Walking Dead" prides itself on nail-biting shows with characters of various moral grounds but probably even moreso on casting actors who haven't had a great deal of screen time to their name, eliminating the chance of having created a history in viewer's minds before they hit the show. Danai Gurira is no exception, when you factor in that she was kicking around the fringe of the entertainment biz prior to nabbing the fan favorite role of Michonne.
From what I do remember of Gurira before the show is mainly her spotlight role as the girlfriend in THE VISITOR, a fantastic movie that allowed character actor Richard Jenkins to shine. She stood out to me then because she was such a breath of fresh air from so many other black female roles that are cast in movies these days.
It's a big "No Derrr!" that I'm a fan of Michonne and her badass, katana wielding self. I also think that Danai has a positively gorgeous outer shell, with her sculpted musculature and defined features highlighted by her usual lack of dreadlocks during her off-screen time. She's a sensational beauty who can convey emotional depth with a simple grunt, even if the memes compare her (favorably) to Grumpy Cat.
What do you think of Danai Gurira?
