Let me explain something to you who might not be following along regularly. I don't "do" television. I used to. I used to schedule my weeks around certain shows, back before the advent of TiVo and DVR and blah fothermucking blah. When you had to understand how to set your VCR. But I don't "do" television anymore because I can't devote my life to it. I like conclusions to things. I don't mind catching endless shows (think "Law & Order") when grazing late night reruns, but I have long since grown out of falling for the latest, greatest, hippest shows. Which is why I actually know very little about the following week's Hot or Not selection.
When "Lost" first started becoming this big phenomena, I caught bits and pieces of conversations about it and thought I might drop in for a show. What I remember of the portion of the episode that I did watch was one of the Hobbits talking about peanut butter to the pregnant blonde chick who used to be on "Roswell" but was now speaking with an Australian accent. Or Kiwi. I didn't know. I didn't care. I couldn't follow along. I got bored and changed the channel.
When the series came out on DVD and the accolades continued to pour in, including Golden Globe and Emmy wins, I paused over the section in my video store (I was still stupidly not using NetFlix exclusively back then) where the first season was on tantalizing display, considering downing it all at once. I don't know why I didn't. I honestly just chalked it up to hearing too much about the stars and their personal troubles while filming on the Hawaiian Islands (Michelle Rodriguez's DUI, amongst others from the cast, Lilly dating the Hobbit, etc). Too much hype and I just have trouble looking past that.
But now that Lilly is starring in THE HURT LOCKER
, an actual movie, with actual actors like Jeremy Renner (I love that dude... he's so over looked), David Morse and Ralph Fiennes in something non Harry Potter related, I have to take pause and consider... is this most obviously beautiful woman meant for the movies?
I know I'm going to get a lot of "duh, of course she's hot" responses here, but elaborate. I can see that she's good looking like I can see that Megan Fox is. But I hold to my word that Fox can't act to save herself from drowning in a sea of toxic waste. Is Lilly really that good, or just another pretty face?
