This is one of those actresses where I look at her and I think... I should know this chick. You ever have those moments where you look at someone who's on screen and they remind you not of a distinct individual that you grew up with or anything, but they have this look to them which gives you the impression that they're someone you might have known at some point in your life. For some people that feeling might be comforting. For me, it makes things complicated when I have to issue my Hot or Not declaration. But let's give it a shot.
January Jones
I honestly have never watched Jones on "Mad Men," the show that she's gaining most of her recent fame from. In fact, other than notably knowing who she was in AMERICAN WEDDING, the third installment of the AMERICAN PIE franchise before it began walking on the straight-to-DVD path to hell. And the main reason why I knew who she was then had to do with her romantic relationship with Ashton Kutcher, but from what I gather, they were already kaputz by the time the movie got released. So... eh.
Now, after doing some digging and checking out her acting resume and brief bio, I figured out that January is her real name, she had no formal acting training and she was fairly successful at modeling despite the fact that she's only 5'6", a normally unheard of height for models. I can completely believe the first part, that being the no formal acting training part, as anyone who suffered through her skits on the dismal showing she made on "SNL" this year would know. I recall reading in a magazine somewhere that the breakdown of her attempt at the sketch show boiled down to her being doled out good looks for a reason.
So, other than a career of movies in which I should remember her but don't (BANDITS? Really? And LOVE ACTUALLY? I know that movie had a lot of roles in it, but damn. Still not ringing any bells) and a career currently built on a role on a show that I've never watched, I have little to base my opinion of January Jones on. Looking at her pictures, when she's heavily made up, she looks pretty good. Her candids produce a mixture of sometimes/sometimes not feelings and the drunken walk of shame/car accident that she had earlier in the year boil down to me believing that this is a good looking woman... and not much else.
But it's not about me. What do you think of January Jones?
