Prior to getting attention as Stiffler's mom in the AMERICAN PIE franchise, Jennifer Coolidge wasn't doing a whole lot other than minor roles in mediocre crap, including a screen credit as the "Hottie Cop" in A NIGHT AT THE ROXBURY. Next thing you know, not only is John Cho officially coining the now infamous "MILF" catch-phrase to identify Coolidge, the actress has lined up a series of wacky and self-deprecating roles where she goes so far as to worry about the junk in her trunk in one of my favorites, DOWN TO EARTH. (Although I think I'm alone in liking that flick.)
Coolidge has been able to keep her sex-pot status even as she's aged, gained and lost weight and though she's barely 50 years old now (making her about 40 when she first played Stiffler's mom), her career has spanned enough genres and characters to fill a much bigger resume. Shit, the woman's been in everything from BEST IN SHOW to LEGALLY BLONDE to POOTIE TANG to DATE/EPIC MOVIE to reoccurring roles on "Joey" and "The Secret Life of an American Teenager." To be considered a regular played in Christopher Guest's tight entourage to being the white woman who gets the chocolate in the "urban" genre, it's almost as if there's nothing that she can't do.
You can catch her in the newly released GENTLEMEN BRONCOS but I'm still hoping that they're going to be able to get together another AMERICAN PIE movie, similar in experience to returning to the originals like they did with FAST & FURIOUS. There is something great about an actress or actor who can create a role which millions of people not only instantly recognize by name alone, but to launch a career from out of nowhere and be continually cool all along the way is even more rare. I find Jennifer Coolidge hot because she's the stereotypical ditz character but dammit, she's worked so hard to get things her way, it's sexy as hell.
You tell me, does Stiffler's mom got it going on?
