There are women who debut in the Hollywood circle and you instantly see something special about them, thus making their transition from a Who's That Girl to an It Girl staring at you from every other movie poster in your theater lobby. This week's Hot or Not selection is suddenly in everything, including this week's THE DEBT. However, is she worthy of all the sudden lavishing of attention?
Jessica Chastain
I don't think I've seen this chick in anything unless I can suddenly recall her bit part on an episode of "Veronica Mars." Which I can't. But Chastain has become the drama chick of late, first with a role opposite Brad Pitt in TREE OF LIFE and later in this summer's hit drama THE HELP.
She cleans up well, from the pictures of her on most red carpets that I've seen. She looks to have an ability to transform herself on the big screen as well, with her retro blonde look for THE HELP. But so many of the images I stumbled upon showed me a splotchy looking red head with distinctive features - the kind that look great when you doll them up and film them just so but look odd in the daylight amongst all the other normal people.
I can't judge her on her acting. I don't want to judge her on the superficial nature of how she takes crap candid photos. But I have to say that even as hard as I try to look, I'm not seeing anything special about Jessica. If I'm wrong, I'm certain you'll explain why. But for now, I'm not sold.
