I'm old enough to clearly remember 1987 and not because it was the year I was learned to pull myself up by the edge of the coffee table and totter about like some of you youngsters out there. This makes me even more interested in the film DIRTY GIRL which details a teen girl with the wrong kind of reputation and how back in '87 you were punished for it instead of given a reality show like current times. Ah, nostalgia.
Temple seems to enjoy being the dirty girl in the up and coming ranks, even if it's just because she doesn't seem to favor brushing out those curly locks of hers. And being an up and comer is easier when your dad directed movies like EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY and your mom produces punk rock documentaries like JOE STRUMMER: THE FUTURE IS UNWRITTEN. I wish being a dirty girl had been as easy for the rest of us.
Here's the thing about this quirky little pixie girl: I didn't know she had famous parents when I first paid attention to her. She shines as the oddball best friend in movies like WILD CHILD and can hold her own amongst the bigger named grownups in movies like GREENBERG.
When you glance through the messy hair and struggle to maintain the non-conformist mentality, there's a very pretty girl in that dirty. Temple is like a porcelain doll that hasn't been taken very good care of. I like her look, even if I can't quite call her a legitimate hottie just yet.
What are your thoughts on Juno Temple?
