At the end of the year, all of the potential Oscar hopefuls get crammed in at the last minute, released in limited numbers in order to qualify for the big prize. Does this mean that ALL GOOD THINGS is the movie which will bring the actress at its core to the acting forefront again? Or will it be proof that far too many child actresses fall short of greatness once they've matured?
I don't hate Kirsten Dunst. In fact, I rarely have given much thought to her, even though there was a point in time when this chick didn't seem to have taken a long enough break to smoke one of her cigarettes. I know that she started off with a bang, being that lucky little girl who got to kiss Brad Pitt in the original vampire drama, but I've forgotten that she was ever a kid. It's as if she was a lusty teenager who aged and yet kept playing teenagers.
The SPIDER-MAN thing I just didn't get. I could see why the guys were interested in her when she was the cheerleader in BRING IT ON. Who doesn't like a busty chick bouncing around in a short skirt? But her version of Mary Jane was whiny, needy and (later in the series) so emotionally detached from Peter Parker that I couldn't be willed to give a damn by the time that Maguire turned into Spider-Emo in the third installment.
For me, a large portion of figuring out if a woman - any woman - is attractive is whether or not she's sharp at what she does. Dunst acts. There have been only two points in her career where I liked her, DICK and CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL. The first because she was a good complement to Michelle Williams and the second because she reminded me of a sweet but damaged girl that I went to high school with. Not sure if either demonstrated well enough for me if I like her acting. With the years weighing heavily on her (evidenced by me not being cruel enough to use any of her candid shots and instead sticking to the posed and P-shopped images here), I can't say I find her hot now. Then again, I can't vouch that there was ever a point where I found her hot.
But it's more important for me to figure out if YOU think Kirsten Dunst is hot or not.
