She's baaaaaack. That is, next week is going to be filled with the sounds of the latest single released by this week's Hot or Not selection. Most people already have some hard-set opinions, but as much as I would like to dog on her, I like to take the time to consider the trash before judging it as such.
I can't even remember which one of the catchy songs of Lady Gaga's that got stuck in my head first. I just know that there was something about her that instantly turned me off. A phony chick who was clearly attempting to be the constantly-reinventing new version of the Madonna that I grew up with. (Now I just wish Madge would transform into the 50-something mother that she is.) First impression, I hated Lady Gaga, if on principle alone.
Then I started looking harder, once I realized that she wasn't going to go away. I looked at her face and saw surgery. OK, so people need nose jobs sometimes. But her face also looked... raw. Perfectly imperfect. Does that make sense? I got more interested in her, if only to dredge through the pictures of her as a youth. Plus, JGL doing his guitar-only version of "Bad Romance" helped me at least appreciate that song.
This year Miss Gag-Me has had hip surgery, clearly lost some extra weight she picked up, despite just last year coming out and explaining that she's had a life-long eating disorder and wants her fans to love themselves the way they are. Perhaps we'll tally it to eating healthier or taking her regimen more seriously since the surgery, but it does come off as convenient since it's correlating with her new album/single release. As for hot? I'm far more curious to see what she looks like in her 50's because I used to think that Madonna was going to be sexy forever. And that's, well... how that turned out.
What do you think of Lady Gaga?
