I don't know about y'all, but this had to be the quietest Memorial Weekend in my personal history. Yeah, I know it's about the soldiers and other servicemen and women who have fought, died, been captured and so forth in wars past, not about the coolest BBQs that you get invited to or the best retail sales that you can hit up. I'm saying that I spent yet another "holiday" weekend with a cold, coughing, snuffling down mucus and reading easy chick lit. Seeing as how this next upcoming weekend is going to welcome the other chick penom - True Blood - back to HBO, I thought we'd look at one of its lesser stars who needs some extra loving.
Lauren has been on the vampire series as a waitress at Sam Merlot's restaurant since the show's third season, where her interest in the Wiccan movement gave her character the supernatural edge to stick around. Since I'm not someone who pays for premium cable, I can only go on what's been whispered about in the 4th season, where Lauren's character Holly hooks up with the bumbling police officer, Andy Bellefleur.
Other than some small roles in movies like HALL PASS and THE HEARTBREAK KID, where most of you might remember her from is her reoccurring role as a waitress at the diner that the group of friends from "Seinfeld" used to visit. There's a good reason why she spent 7 years playing that waitress with no name - Bowles is the younger half sister of Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Aside from working Elaine's coattails on the show about nothing, Lauren's big sis also brought her on as a regular character on her post-"Seinfeld" show, "Watching Ellie."
Lauren is by no means conventionally beautiful. She's been cursed with a fivehead, possesses narrow features which conjure up more of an alien head than that of a witch, and she's rocking a thin but not particularly noteworthy body. But there's something to her that I like. I respond to her when she speaks, whether cracking wise or giving stern advice on how Arlene can cast out her unwanted demon spawn. She might not be hot enough to have a career without the help up from her sister, but she's hot enough for me.
What do you think of Lauren Bowles?
