Beauty is supposed to come in all packages. And sometimes, it's the talent and the humour of a woman that will make her even more attractive. What the hell would Tina Fey be doing today if not for her intelligence and grasp on what people find funny? However, there's been a long-standing joke around "SNL" where they talk about having token cast members who can play all different ethnic backgrounds of the infamous members of the media they are mocking. And while Tina could write, she couldn't begin to hold a candle to the best (and least recognized) female cast member that the show has had in its 34 year run. Let's take another look, shall we?
I am super stoked to see that Maya is getting more attention in the movies, especially with the upcoming AWAY WE GO
. Even if it means that I have to sit through the white bread blandness that is John Krasinski, I'll do it to see the whole scene with the stroller and Maggie Gyllenhaal whining about pushing her babies away from her. Oh, how I love to mock neo-hippies.
I loved that she got a chance to be the slutty chick in IDIOCRACY, a gem of a Mike Judge movie which has been embraced by the cult fanatics for its spot-on rendition of the world in which we're headed if we keep this reality television, willful ignorance shit up. I guess what I like about her is that no matter what the role is that she takes, whether in a movie or playing everything from Christina Aguilera to Donatella Versace on "SNL," you see Maya shining through and not just the token chick.
The interesting history on her is that she's the daughter of music producer Dick Rudolph and former disco queen singer Minnie Riperton. Minnie's big hit was "Lovin' You," a song where you can hear her repeat Maya's name at the end. Tragically, she died right before Maya turned 7 years old. It stands to reason that this is where Rudolph got her ability to belt out songs, including a brief stint in a band with current Weezer bassist Matt Sharp. Thankfully for all of us, she became more visible on the sketch show and is even infamous from a radio interview that Howard Stern did with Tina Fey in which Fey stuck it to host Paris Hilton for questioning if Rudolph was "Italian or something?"
I personally think that Maya is adorable with her freckles, sharp eyes and warm smile. But do you find one of this summer's leading ladies to be hot or not?
