I'll be honest with you folks. I'm boycotting JENNIFER'S BODY in the hopes that I can get rid of Megan Fox and Diablo Cody in one fail swoop. Sure, I'll probably go check it out on DVD, but my money at the box office is going to be better spent on a movie like THE INFORMANT, where at least I can revel in Joel McHale, a fat Matt Damon and, in my opinion, an overlooked hottie who deserves more attention because she can... oh, I don't know... ACT?

Melanie Lynskey

Melanie actually first got her start in Peter Jackson's HEAVENLY CREATURES where she was overshadowed by the powers that were budding inside of a young Kate Winslet. Never mind the fact that Lynskey is a key factor in the movie being good as well, or the fact that she gets topless for it, this was her start in Hollywood's eyes. The overweight friend who seemingly is along for the ride even though her presence is just as important.

Since then, Lynskey has had a plethora of character actress roles which stuck to your bones, like playing the sympathetic step-sister in the Cinderella story knock-off EVER AFTER and having best friend roles in COYOTE UGLY and SWEET HOME ALABAMA. She's also dabbled in independent movies (where she continued to bare her very nice breasts) and been sidekick to Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men." (Never seen the show, but I might check out a rerun or two if she's in them.)

Now it's time for Lynskey to break out and get some meatier roles. Including the earlier 2009 release AWAY WE GO, she's the spunky wife to Damon in what might be Steven Soderbergh's successful attempt at comedy (no, the OCEANS triology does not count as comedy, but that's just my opinion) and will be alongside Mr. Currently Can Do No Wrong, Jason Bateman in the upcoming UP IN THE AIR.

So sure, she can act. Which honestly counts for a lot in how I find her attractive in that home town girl kind of way. But is she hot enough to pass the babe meter here? You tell me what you think of Melanie Lynskey.

hmm

i think i've seen all those movies mentioned, yet not very memorable. not impressed too much with the toplessness but she is hilarious on 2 and a half men and she is hot in it, so that's my deciding factor.

She is hot, just not in your typical [link]'re-as-thin-as-a-rail Hollywood starlet kind of way. It's too bad her career didn't take off like Kate Winslet's after "Heavenly Creatures".

Mel is extremely pretty. I'm glad she never starved herself like many actresses to keep in work. She deserves more great roles like her one on Heavenly Creatures.
