Seems as if there is still plenty of love for that vegan nutjob, Alicia Silverstone, if the commentary from last week's Hot or Not selection is any indicator. I have to wonder, though... is that because you had a thing for her back in the day and you're riding the nostalgia fumes to the hottie bank? If that's the case, then I might be hearing the same feedback about this week's selection.
Nia Long was 21 when she appeared as the girlfriend in the seminal movie, BOYZ IN DA HOOD, back in 1991. While I probably will forever remember that movie as the one that turned my whiter-than-white mother into a sobbing mess who couldn't tell the difference between Ice Cube and Ice T, I also have to thank Nia for being that sweet girl-next-door type that she carried into her career with roles on "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," but with more color to her skin.
Nia has always had a busy career, even if you can't name her shows and movies off the top of your head. After all, she's been the first name picked up and cast in movies such as FRIDAY (Ice Cube has always loved Long, being an influential component in getting her cast in that movie as well as the ARE WE THERE YET? films), BOILER ROOM and THE BEST MAN, which will be seeing its sequel, THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY released this upcoming weekend.
I have always liked Nia Long, in that way she carries herself like an average girl who manages to always get the good guys. There's something appealing to that stereotype for girls and women, those of us looking for proof that we don't have to be screaming with outrageous beauty to still be beautiful. In fact, I find Long far sexier than some of the other big-name beauties out there, perhaps most notably someone like Halle Berry. Sure, there's beauty but then there's beauty with approachability and simple, clean class.
What do you think of Nia Long?
