Let me tell you one of the most awesome things about hanging out with a group of highly knowledgeable movie geeks. They're not afraid to whip out a conversation on which male stars rank on their personal "I'd Go Gay For" lists. For the record, those of you guys out there who are looking for a "in" with the ladies? Being comfortable enough with your own sexuality to admit when you find a dude Hot or Not is a winning move. And because this man is a current favorite, let's all enjoy some pics of him for this week's installment, shall we?
Ryan Gosling
I didn't watch him on "The Mickey Mouse Club" but I find it kinda quirky cool that he and former co-star from the show, Justin Timberlake, are both making grownup hottie waves in the movie industry right now. Justin might have tried to copy Ryan's abs but they can't quite make up for his face. Battling CRAZY STUPID LOVE Ryan abs against IN TIME Justin abs and I think Emma Stone's reaction sums it up. "You look like you're photoshopped!"
Ryan cleans up well. He doesn't date skanks (his ex women include Sandra Bullock, whom he romanced when he was quite young and might have caused the inspiration of the "Cougar" title for her and NOTEBOOK co-star Rachel McAdams who is all levels of hot on her own) and comes off as loyal, hard-working, laid-back and oozing with cool. Timberlake tried to take a stab at him in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, but come on... those who start throwing stones first are the insecure types.
Ryan is a Canadian, which wins points with me from the get go. He can carry entire waves of emotion in his eyes, without ever speaking a word (anyone who has witnessed the greatness of DRIVE can account for this), breaks up street fights between strangers, and manages to get irritated with the paps who follow him around without resorting to name calling or middle finger flashing. And as I'm wrapping up this column, I realize I need to go get a towel and mop up my chair.
