This "STFU! Moment" brought to you courtesy of Christina Ricci. As she was doing her round promoting the upcoming SPEED RACER (holy hell, I see "box office flop" written all over that), Christina started claiming that it was ridiculous that actresses would aspire to play strippers in movies, in particular mocking Lindsay Lohan in her pseudo-stripping role in last year's flop I KNOW WHO KILLED ME.
Christina, the ever so careful at deciding when to stick her foot in her mouth actress was quoted as saying: " “It used to be something that we (women) were sort of ashamed of. You didn’t want to admit to people that you were a stripper. But now, the hottest thing to say is, ‘I can work a pole!’ Who gives a f**k? But it’s a huge weird thing. I mean, you see actresses, and their passion project is to play a stripper. It’s just stupid.”
As opposed to being really turned on by the idea of playing a small town, redneck, emaciated nympho? Is that the difference, Christina? Please explain it to me. Should actresses be putting their nude bodies into fake positions of the pump-and-dump instead of twirling around on a pole? Is that the line that takes a woman from being a stupid tart on film to a serious actress? Sheesh. You're old enough now to know when to STFU, aren't you?
