So Emma Watson was out shopping without a lick of make-up on, giving us a good opportunity to evaluate whether or not her beauty comes naturally. I don't know about you, but I'm finding it tough to get on board with the all the hype she gets. She's cute, in the sense of being pleasant to the eye in a kind of innocuous way. I'm not a Potter fan, so I guess that whole fascination with her never had a chance to develop. Even with the longer hair, she's still got this subtle, androgynous, prepubescent boy thing happening that just doesn't work for me. She looks like the kind of girl they'd pick to play Peter Pan in a stage play. She's not ugly though. When properly made up, she can be attractive. But that just adds extra weirdness to her for me, because I see her with the cosmetics and Photoshop applied, yet I still remember the tomboy that lies beneath. It's like someone cleaned up Huckleberry Finn and put some lip gloss and eyeliner on him. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I find her pleasant in a totally non-sexual way, if that makes any sense.
