In news that comes as no surprise to anyone, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are officially over. As quoted from a statement released by Demi:
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.
This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.
Of course, Ashton, being the sophisticated, sensitive and classy person he is, made his statement via Twitter:
I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi.
Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK
I suppose the emotions for both of them are pretty intense right now. No doubt the issues between them that Demi is hinting at in her statement are quite painful for them and probably their families and close friends. Still, I find it difficult get worked up about this kind of thing. I wish them the best and don't really bear either any ill will, but divorces and break-ups are practically weekly occurrences in the entertainment industry. Did they really expect to be together forever? Even so-called regular folks have got a 50/50 shot at marriage success. Imagine how drastically the odds drop for marriage when you toss millions of dollars and hottie 20-somethings riding your jock day and night.
So what do you think? Are you devastated? Could you care less? Somewhere in between?
